Shy On The Fly
For Shyanne Orvis, fly fishing offers more than a space to enjoy nature; it offers a space to heal. Follow Shyanne, our newest athlete, and a crew of all-women anglers as they reflect on how fly fishing ties in to navigating life’s challenging current.

Meet Shyanne:

Mother, Angler, Guide, Travel Host & Backcountry Athlete

Shyanne’s story began in northern Michigan, where she discovered the mental peace and sense of calm fishing evokes. Her passion quickly grew, leading her westward and eventually into our Herd.

Now, Shyanne aims to create a safe and welcoming space for others to find that same joy. We’re honored to help cast the stoke.

“My hope is to inspire and empower more people to get out onto the water and experience why we all love fly fishing so much.”

Reels, Flys, Waders & More Gear We’re Hooked On

Gearhead Pick:
Grundens Men’s Boundary Zip Wader

What if waders weren’t so tough to take off? The Boundary Zip Wader proves that ducking into the woods when nature calls doesn’t have to feel like a heavy-duty operation.

Aside from the zipper benefits, we love the chest pockets that are sized perfectly for a small tackle box, cell phone, cold can, or whatever else we need to reel in good memories.

Gearhead Pick:

Fishpond Switchback Wading System

Having your hands free makes catching fish a little more easy. With the Switchback Wading Belt, we can keep our flies organized on the exterior fly patch, and tie new ones without rummaging through the rest of our gear.

The quick-release rail system makes it easy to pair with more of Fishpond’s pack systems. And plenty of tool and accessory attachment points ensure your rod, net, and other essentials are safely secured, but easy to grab when you need them.
