I expected more
Fit is great. Felt comfortable from the beginning. Laces took awhile to quit stretching. I took my first 2 hour hike. My ankles were well supported. I was disappointed with the cushion. My feet hurt about 90 minutes into the hike.

Not worth the money!
Was looking to replace my XCrest that I have been buying for years. Apparently they are discontinued. These don’t have nearly the arch support that the XCrest had. In fact I have put them on the shelf as my feet hurt after an 8 hour day. Won’t be buying these again. :(

Solid but not as good as the X Ultra Aero
I bought these to replace some X Ultra Aeros that I loved, but unfortunately are not made anymore. I was hesitant because I really wanted a mid height boot without any waterproofing but at the moment Salomon doesn't offer anything like that. The low cut is comfortable for around town, but if I need to go out into the woods I will switch to a different boot with a higher cut. These are very comfortable and lightweight, and they breathe very good in the hot and humid weather. The quicklaces...are not the best. The idea is okay, but the buckle/clasp/whatever they call the mechanism that is supposed to keep the laces tight is not very good. It loosens up all the time. The laces themselves are also really long, so by the time you tighten them there is a ton of extra lace you have to try to tuck into the little pocket thing on the tongue. It was an interesting idea...but it seems like a solution to something that wasn't really a problem to begin with... I got them on sale and even with the laces I'm happy with them. If I had paid full price...I would be less happy.

Love these!
This is my fourth pair of Solomans. So comfortable, long-wearing stay looking new.

Sharp on Ankles and Heels
I bought these for a thru-hike. 100 miles and a week in, they started rubbing my feet very painfully around the ankles and heels. I tried wearing another pair of socks and putting on moleskin, but nothing worked. They seem like an alright shoe, but they do work for my feet.

Not as great as hoped
They are hot with regular athletic socks. There's a weird tension on the inside of the right foot and no clue of the purpose of the speed laces.

Bulky Fit, A Step Backward From X Ultra 3
I bought a pair of x ultra 4 shoes following my experience with the x ultra 3. The two couldn't fit/feel more different. The 3 fits great and laces up nicely. The 4 is bulky at the top of the foot, and always feels like I need to tighten the laces. The top of the lacing is too close to the little pocket on the tongue that lace tucks into. The arch has a weird feel as well. I have flat feet and the 3 still feels and fits great. I'm really Regretting purchasing the 4. I wear my 3's every day and have had no luck shopping for a new, leftover pair of them. The 4 sits in my closet collecting dust.

Quality and Durability at a great price
Full disclosure, this is my second pair of the X Ultra 4's. The first pair was put through the ringer over several years and I finally wore out the sole. The first pair was amazing and I loved everything about it, so when it came time to replace it I didn't hesitate to buy the same pair again! I use this as my everyday/weekend shoe. It has gone to breweries, camping, hiking, dog walks, kayaking, and even some light jogging. Anything I throw at it, it just keeps asking for more.

Me vont comme un gant
C’est la quatrième pair que je me procure en 10 ans et je les aime tout autant. Fiable, résistant et confortable. Niveau de support parfait dans mon cas.
