The Tarpon is King!
This is a new purchase for a paddler with 20 yrs experience . I also have a 12’ Pungo. While the Pungo is faster, I bought this boat as an alternative fly fishing boat, just because I’ve always wanted a Tarpon. This boat does not have a keel similar to the Pungo, so you steer it a little more. The newer features, like the sealed plastic box allows me easy access to my phone for picture taking. The drink band, with the magnet is handy as well. I’ve outfitted the boat with Railblaza accessories, which make access to my rods, and paddle very easy to use, and park. I like the fact that the cockpit is the same size for a 10’ boat or a larger vessel. I’m 5/11”, and have plenty of room. The smaller hatch requires a custom trolley that I made, but it’s no deal breaker. The boat is worth the money, and a pleasant alternative to the Pungo. The hardest decision is which one to take fishing.
