Why We Like The Vans Ultrarange Exo Hi MTE-2 Shoe

We like wearing the Ultrarange Exo Hi MTE-2 Shoe when we're kicking it around town or on our local trail for a short sunset hike. Along with sporting a classy sneaker aesthetic, this shoe takes it a step further by featuring an aggressively lugged sole for premium traction on the sidewalk and dirt pathways.

Quality boots, run small

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
9

These are great boots. They look rad, feel high quality and keep my feeties toasty and protected for winter work and outdoor activities. As others said though, they run really small. I'm normally an 8, ordered a 9 and they fit perfectly. Glad I sized up.

Huge fan of Vans shoes. I was very excited to try their hiking boots. They run narrow and small compared to the shoes. So buy 1-2 sizes bigger. Other than that they are perfect. My feet have been warm, dry and comfortable on my recent hikes.

Definitely go up 1 full size

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:

Got mine in today and went half a size up per review recommendation. If you bought previous MTEs and like how they fit go up one full size if you buy these. MTEs break in very nicely and last a long time if you take care of them.

Good fit and good look

I always wear size 10 in Adidas shoes and so I ordered a size 11 because of the earlier review I read on the product. The size 11 was way too big for me. I called Backcounty and they were so quick in making the exchange for a size 10.5 and that was still too big a size. So I called Backcounty and they sent me the size 10 that I should have ordered from the very beginning. Size 10 fits my size 10 foot very good. I needed this shoe for work and Backcounty made sure that I was well-taken care of in this process of getting the right size I needed. Thank you! Every customer service rep was gracious and very quick in helping me.

Sizing is not the same as Vans Old Skool

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
10.5
Height:

I normally wear a size 9.5 Mens in Vans Old Skool Comfy Cush. I had heard that when ordering these MTE boots, I needed to order a 1/2 to 1 size larger, so I ordered a 10.5. Turns out that the 10.5 is too small. Make sure of your size before ordering, because Backcountry.com charges $6.99 to return them. Pretty disappointed in the experience.
