Seatpost Collar
Most riders don't consider their seatpost collar on day-to-day rides—until their seatpost starts to creep down halfway through some epic ride due to a poorly constructed collar. The Thomson Seatpost Collar not only alleviates your underperforming seatpost collar woes with its powerful clamping force, but it also adds serious bling to your cockpit with its anodized black or shiny silver finish.

Bolt is 3mm not the 4mm in the picture!!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Bolt is a 3mm not a 4mm. Doesn't hold my brand new thomson post tight in my brand new frame. I can still twist the seatpost by pushing hard on the nose of the saddle. I've got this seatpost clamp tightened as much as I can with this tiny little bolt. Buyer beware the seatpost clamp in the pictures is not the clamp you will get. $30 down the drain :( Check the reviews for the 3mm bolt version on Amazon. I am not the only one to have this issue by a long shot.

Typical Thomson

A well-finished, substantial part that weighs less than it looks. It's got much more contact surface area than my old clamp or indeed any other clamp in have seen, so if all that is in contact, the 2.8nm torque likely will be fine. If it rides high or only has the same contact area as your old skinny clamp, it might slip. I admit that if it slipped I would crank it to 4nm, but hey that's why I keep having to buy seat clamps. For carbon frames, they ask you to seat it with the bolt in the front, which looks a tiny bit wonky but I'll get over it probably. Comes with a nice little bag I keep my Garmin in now in my duffle.
