Wind and rain? No problem!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- Back Country
The first trip for me and the Wawona was a week on Iles de la Madeleine, an archipelago in the Gulf of St Lawrence. The tent stayed dry and upright during two nights of crazy wind and heavy rain. A 4 person tent that you can stand upright in is great. I was worried because the fly doesn’t extend to the ground except for the vestibule, but as usual the North Face team knows what it’s doing. Getting the fly on was really hard. That piece could use more ID points, different colors maybe. But once I watched a video, it got easier. Not easy, but better. It’s a wonderful tent, and shout out to Back Country for their great products.

Love this tent!

I am very pleased with this tent. I had to replace a 35 year old Eureka Alpine Meadows due to leaks. This is a great replacement and the seam sealant work looks very good. I was able to put it up on my own on the second try. (I'm 5' 3") It's more than ample in square footage and being able to fully stand up is a treat. It really should come with more stakes...my only complaint.

Perfect Family Tent

We just started a family and we’re in need of a bigger tent for car camping as a family. We’ve been happy with our compact tent, which is a North Face, so we decided to stick with the brand. We spent 4 nights tent camping with our two month old and this tent was perfect. The vestibule is perfect for keeping gear out of the rain and makes it easy to get in and out while carrying a child. The organization panels inside the tent are super useful. We had a thunderstorm move through and several bouts of rain and we stayed dry and comfortable, the temperatures ranged from 50 to 85 and it didn’t get damp inside the tent. The mesh panels make it really easy to get airflow through the tent and keep it cool. Overall, really happy with it.

Just what I needed

If you want to stand up and stretch in your tent, this one is for you. Perfect for car camping, unless you want to carry 13+ pounds! The rain tarp took a bit of feting around to get it on right. It only covers a portion of the back side, but that side has double wall so it should be OK in the rain. Overall, I’m very happy that I went to the big tent side.

This tent saved my family
Last night my family went camping for the first time in 5 years, as night approached my wife and 3 year old decided to spend some time in the tent as it was approaching my little one's bed time. All of a sudden I heard creak and snapping sound and before I could comprehend what was happening I saw a tree limb break and fall directly onto my North Face Wawona 4-Person Tent. The limb bent the poles of my tent and ripped two holes onto the side of the tent. We are thankful to the high quality materials of this tent for deflecting the tree limb and saving us from what could have been a life ending event.

maybe
I have the old version of this tent - great tent. Terrible stuff sack - I can't believe they didn't come up with a better one since I bought my my tent (2018). I had to get a different sack because you can't really put it back the way you got it from the factory. The drawstring doesn't stay taught, you can't get the drawstring to close enough to keep eveything in the bag. Northface really should be embarrassed to keep using this bag. Buy the tent, now over $500, and then you get to buy on top of that, a stuff bag and a footprint for another couple of hundred bucks. You might want to look at competitors for a better deal.
