When we’re headed out for our next ski tour or ice climbing expedition, we count on the Phantom 50L Backpack to swallow the necessary gear without adding any unnecessary weight to our load. The ultralight construction keeps the Phantom pack weight under an impressive 3lbs, but the sturdy Robic Air Nylon and Spectra fabrics ensure you don’t have to comprise durability during harsh treks. Plenty of external carry options allow you to comfortably house the skis, ice-tools, or rope your alpine adventure may require, while semi-translucent outer material gives your increased visibility into the main compartment to easily fish out gear on the go.

Multiple packs in one!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is HUGE, but the compression straps also let you carry a smaller volume and keep it tight to your back, it's really multiple packs in one. I haven't got to try it on anything super technical but on a day hike on the Old Rag loop in Shenandoah last week it was super comfy and kept my snacks, water, chalk, and rock shoes secure!

Great overall but lid doesn't stay latched
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this pack for a AT skiing hut tour in the Swiss Alps. It was comfortable and mostly functional. The top-only access helps make it lightweight I realize, but I think I would prefer having some kind of side access too. The latching mechanism for the lid did not work well when the pack was less than full--it was too easy for it to come undone. The main reason it didn't hold consistently was that the strap could not be quickly and easily shortened enough to make a tight closure.

The perfect pack and excellent customer service
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for my climb of Mount Blanc last week. It was perfect in size, weight and functionality. I'm 6'2"" and the L/XL fit perfectly. Plenty room for a puffy, harness, crampons, helmet and other supplies for the approach.

I would buy this product again
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this pack specifically for my trip to climb Mount Blanc. Although we were not able to attempt MB because of the dangerous rock falls at the time, I used it climbing Monte Rosa in Italy. This pack was perfect for this trip in size, weight and functionality. I actually met a climber on the summit of Vincent Pyramid 4,215 m (13,829 ft.) and he had the same pack but the 38L.

My search continues but will know more following My Rainier
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted 10 extra liters for 2-5 night alpine trips. 30# 4000ft conditioners has me questioning the haul comfort. Jury is still out on the flex frame sheet stays.
