Why We Like The Cobra 65L Backpack

For mountaineering and ice climbing adventures in the dead of winter, The North Face Cobra 65L will get us there and keep our gear organized for our fun-filled excursions. We like that this pack features semi-translucent fabric to help us see our gear more easily when everything is packed up, and that it's made from highly durable Teksever material, which reduces weight while reducing water and snow absorption. Designated ice-tool and axe spots help us carry our tools more easily while keeping picks covered, and an external stuff-it pocket holds crampons so we don't scratch up our pack or the rest of our gear. A rope carry at the top of the pack doubles as a compression feature, and a floating top lid with a zippered pocket is optimized for those smaller items we need to access easily.

Cool Pack; Ended Up Returning

I LOVE this pack. I wanted this to be the one that would work for my 3 upcoming climbs this year (Baker, Briethorn, Cotopaxi), but compared to the Black Diamond Cobra 75, I sadly returned this. BUT it was a really hard decision. I'm 5'2, 125lbs and was looking for the mountaineering pack that was most comfortable around my narrow shoulders. This one is slightly to wide in the shoulder straps and it felt like much of the weight was not landing my hips because there is no adjustable length. I loved all the straps, features, closures, included helmet hammock, etc. but just couldn't do it in comparison. Also the white looks awesome, but like -- how would that hold up over time??? Unsure. If you're curious, get the pack and try it!

I wanna buy another cobra , for 1 day climb

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually doing alpine mountaineering, did a climb Mt Hood with this backpack , for 1 day probably you need another cobra 38 litre, but if you're staying in the mountains for overnight and you need to grab your tent , this one is the best .

Terrible bag for overnighter

I can barely attach overnight equipment on the side, no avalanche pocket even while marketed for ski mountaineering. No bottom strap. Very unimpressed

Ultimately chose another pack but it was a hard choice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a pack for winter backpacking that would include skiing and ice climbing. This pack fit quite well. For reference I am 5'2", 110lbs with a 14.5 " torso. I really like the floating lid, ice axe carry system, and water resistance of the material. The big winner was the fact I could take out the frame sheet after a heavy load and turn it into a day pack that felt quite comfy and tilt my head all the way back. The harness fit well except the shoulder pads were a bit wide on me so it restricted my overhead arm movement. I am a small person so this is common. Overall nice pack but I ultimately chose a Hyperlite pack. The return was easy and I had great customer service with North Face and will definitely buy from them again.

Excellent product for serious users.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you are a serious, backcountry, Skier or ice Climber, this is the pack you want. You can keep your shovel and wet skins in the back pocket, out of the main compartment with your spare clothing and food and water and beers. Same for your crampons. You can put them in the pocket and know they are not going to fall off your pack.

Pretty solid pack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a little difficult to get it to fit right with my torso size, but its just big enough to hold overnight gear and all my climbing gear. I use the ski straps to cinch my rope to the sides and never worry about it coming loose or flopping. Really love the ice tool attachments! Front pocket holds my crampons perfectly

Awesome Pack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pack for the most part is pretty simple and light. It is white so it does like to stain but its a backpack.

I would buy this product again and recommend it to people.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Probably the best bag that I have purchased for the mountains! Love every feature about it and well invested for future mountain trips around the states.
