[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got my 1st Blue Kazoo in 1979, royally mistreated it, & it is a 35-degree bag now. I've taken care of my 2nd Kazoo & its temp rating. Spent early Sept. in Alaskan arctic & late Oct. in CO Rockies.

I think I found my sleeping bag for life.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best sleeping bag ever. From Roof Top Tent adventures to multi-day backpacking trips this bag fits. I often toss and turn in my sleep and occasionally, I may sleep on my side. In other bags that I thought "fit" and confirmed to my silhouette, I found to be very uncomfortable sleeping in positions other than on my back with hands at my side. The Blue Kazoo, provides a spacious torso zone with a evolving non restrictive form, and allows me to sleep in many positions.

Affordable, lightweight, moderately warm bag
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I only used this once so far and am overall satisfied with my purchase. I got this bag to use for the JMT in September and tested it out on a trip in the White Mountains in Interior AK last weekend. Pros: lightweight, packs small, affordable. I used a smaller and lighter weight compression sack than it came with. Good price compared to other bags with similar specs. Cons:not as warm as I hoped, fabric doesn't feel durable, zipper gets caught easily. Test trip was rainy and cool, probably in the upper 30s and I got a little chilled at night. I do sleep cold but expected to still be warm at those temps since temp comfort rating is 26*F. Nothing an extra layer can't fix. But the bag also doesn't feel the most durable; some of this is "you get what you pay for" and I expected that. Time will tell how it holds up. I'm sure the JMT will put it to the test.

Panel not filled with any down at all
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I think this would be a perfectly fine sleeping bag, but the bag I received has a panel on the side near the foot that is completely empty of any down. It's just the nylon, no insulation whatsoever. I contacted backcountry about it, but they gave me a bit a the run around about making a return and by the time spring hit I needed a bag, so I have just been using it and wearing socks. With the nice ventilation panel North Face custom installed for me, it has been fine spring/summer bag so far. But no, I would not recommend this product if you have a non-zero chance of getting a sleeping bag without any down.

Love My Blue Kazoo
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect for keeping toasty in our camper. Packs down to nothing, which is great for saving valuable space, and lofts up almost instantly.

Nice for WARM summer trips
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this product for short backpacking trips, when I am carrying a 30 lb pack and can deal with the extra weight. I do NOT use this for pack packing 30+ miles, as it is too heavy. Additionally, I've used it for camping in the back of my SUV. Lastly, I use it for camping near my car. Even in the middle of the summer where it drops to no less than 50 degrees at night, I have to wear merino base layers underneath, thick merino socks and camp slippers. If car camping, I generally have a wool blanket inside of the bag. Yes, the bag fits correctly. I've been backpacking for 20+ years. No doubt that North Face makes some super high quality products, however, you pay for what you get. I think the fill on here is 650 or 700. I don't see a fill weight and the zipper snags almost every time I use it. I am going to stick to my mountaineering bag in the winter, and a 950+ UL fill with a fill weight of 21.01 oz and is still lighter and significantly warmer than this. I generally get hot in the summer, but this bad didn't do it for me and i wound up giving it away after a year.

Looks like I murdered a duck in my tent
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- large
- Height:
- 6' 2"
I've had this bag for about 2 years and have only taken it on a spattering of overnights, mostly in the rockies and more recently the sierra nevada. My first issue with it is that it has never been able to keep up with it's temp rating and on more than a few occasions I've woken up freezing despite wearing mutiple layers as a precaution. I sleep a little cold so this wouldn't be enough for a 2 star review but my real issue is that the bag sheds feathers like Icarus flying into a supernova. If it was due to a localized stitching defect or a hole, that would be understandable but it seems to be coming through all the stitches which leads me to just think it's a poorly made bag.
