Why We Like The Alta Vista Jacket
When we decide a little weather can’t stop us from ticking off a summit from our trekking list, we zip into the Lata Vista Jacket knowing that it will help us adapt to whatever we face. The DryVent 2.5L membrane offers impressive waterproof protection to get us through the storm while simultaneously helping us vent our body heat, and the jacket stows into its own pocket once the skies clear.

Just what I was looking for
Excellent jacket. Waterproof, wind resistant and lightweight. Loose enough fit to wear layers underneath in cooler weather.

Not waterproof
I am a big fan of Northface and own many products of them, so, I was really surprised to find out that this jacket is NOT WATERPROOF! I took a simple city walk yesterday under the rain, which was nothing heavy, and my cellphone got all wet (I had placed it in the inner pocket) and my clothes were damp. I am so upset! I don't recommend this jacket.

Great product.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great for Illinois colder days. My friend had one and I borrowed. Kept wind and rain out. Layer on a sweater and it is cozy warm!

Comfy lightweight raincoat
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a light coat rain coat for hiking, travel, and everyday use - and this fit my needs better than expected. Extremely packable, light weight, keeps me dry, and comfy!

Super disappointed
I bought this jacket a couple weeks ago because I needed a lightweight rain shell. I regret my purchase though because it's not breathable at all, like AT ALL. Even with the pit zips open. It bottles in the heat and sometimes I am dripping sweat when I take it off. It also bunches weirdly at the front when I bend over. This was my first time buying North Face and I was excited to finally spend the money on a good quality shell. I will say, it seems like a durable jacket, but I am super disappointed. Not sure what I'm going to do because I obviously can't return it.

Great light jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mainly to have folded up in my backpack for when it unexpectedly rains on my bike adventures/commute and/or running in the rain. Anything with ventilation (even rain jackets) is a huge plus for me as I sweat easily. I like how it fit--not too tight and not like I'm wearing a bag. Haven't had it for long, so we'll see how long it will last. The one thing I didn't like, is when I wear a sleeveless shirt under, my sweaty shoulders and arms will kind of stick to the inside of the rain jacket as this jacket does not have the mesh lining.
