Long considered the gold standard when it comes to measuring wattage, the pioneering powermeter experts at SRM are back with its Origin Carbon Power Meter Crank Arms giving you the ability to up your training and racing by measuring important ride metrics with world-class accuracy and reliability, all in a lightweight, stiff, and adjustable package. Proven in World Tour races under the likes of Team AG2R and Bahrain-Merida, it possesses the durability to withstand day in and day out training in a no-compromise chassis that's suited for racing. With an unheard of +/- 1% accuracy, whether you're looking for your first or fifth powermeter, there aren't many out there better than this.
SRM names this powermeter the Origin because, well, SRM produced the original powermeter going back to 1987. Over the years we've seen it as the centerpiece of Campagnolo, SRAM, Rotor, and Shimano cranks, providing the necessary electronics and strain gauges to monitor output and the Origin represents the first cranks built from the ground up to SRM's complete specifications. This all-new modular concept offers impressive compatibility with its direct mount spider and exchangeable spindles allowing the cranks to fit road, TT, tri, cross and track bikes. We're offering it in either a 24mm or 30mm spindles to accommodate almost every frame and bottom bracket on the market.
It still relies on the tried-and-proven strain gauges for measuring data. The strain gauges for the powermeter are a system of sensors that detect any resistance and by calculating the velocity of the arms, converts it into watts. Those numbers, specifically cadence between 30 and 255 RPM and wattage between 0 and 4200 watts are then sent to your head unit for analysis.
The Germans at SRM co-developed the carbon crank arms with the French composite experts at Look. This afforded an extremely lightweight build of 120-grams for the arms and an impressive 599-grams total weight with spindle and rings. Also unique is Look's Trilobe pedal insert allowing one crankarm length to adjust for 170, 172.5, and 175mm lengths. The spider accommodates 4-bolt Shimano 11-speed road rings or any other chainring that utilizes an asymmetric 110BCD pattern.
The powermeter operates wirelessly with ANT+ Sport computers including its PowerControl 7, PowerControl VI, or any other ANT+ compatible device. The battery is rechargeable and SRM claims a 1900-hour run time.
