We've long considered the Specialized Prevail to be one of the best all-around road helmets on the market, so when we finally got our hands on the lighter and more breathable S-Works Prevail II Vent, we knew we had a winner. By removing a total of seven foam bridges from the center and sides of the helmet, the Prevail II Vent is able to move fresh air across the rider's head 18% faster than the previous model. This is a welcome feature for climbers, sprinters, those of us living in warm climates, and those of us who run hot no matter the ride.

A bit over hyped
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- L
- Weight:
- 200
I had the Propero 3 with Angi which was cheaper and came with Angi. Sometimes this gets listed or shown as having the Angi device but it only comes with the band to attach it which drives this up $50 if you want that. Every review I read about this helmet talked about how much cooler it was and I didn't find it to be that big of a difference. Getting my haircut mattered more. The pads are cushy at first but it seems there is no replacements. I bought this Nov. 2021 and it June 2022 and have yet to see them anywhere. I read one review that said there would be so they were perhaps wrong. The front/crown pads click into the headset in the back. What's weird is Specialized sells replacement headsets for some helmets and it looks like maybe if you can unlink the front/crown from the headset you could replace the pads maybe if it was designed well where it latches together? Also for being something that talks about cooling my Propero 3 did a better job of keeping sweat out of my eyes. I live in an area where my rides are 90 to 115 degrees. I didn't have much of an issue with sweat dripping from my helmet on the Propero 3 but since this helmet kinda floats since the front crown pads are not really attached to the helmet you just kinda bleed over and drip sweat in your eyes. So expect to wear a headband or something under when it's over 90 which kinda defeats the purpose of the helmet. The sizing transferred well between the Propero 3 and this. But do note that Specialized does state their size ranges differently so don't just assume your old size will work. In the end you've got an expensive helmet that is comfy but not that cooling and once you want to replace your pads which for me is yearly, you are looking at buying a new helmet. This is awful for sustainability and for a $250 price point.

Great Helmet But
- Size Bought:
- M
- Height:

Super light, aerodynamic, they run a little big and I'm in the middle of the M range. Only thing I hate is the low profile forehead interferes with my Oakleys, or larger glasses. I would not recommend on that feature, but everything else is super. I love the airflow for hot days, but the glasses thing is bothersome.

Order Fulfillment Issue but Great Helmet
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- Large
- Height:

When I ordered this new helmet, I was first shipped one that had clearly been worn and crashed. The helmet had sweat stains around the band, scratches on the top, and a very clear deep crack along the front side. Apparently, this was not inspected and placed back into stock. I called the next day, and sent in pictures and a new helmet arrived the very next day. The new helmet, including the packaging was clearly in far better shape than the initial one, which makes it even more puzzling how it got by them, and made it onto a UPS truck. The S-Works Prevail II is a great product. It's adjusts easily, fits well, is lightweight enough, and provides very good protection. It's worth the $200. I still haven't decided whether to go with the MIPS service.
