Trying a new fabric
Lightweight, warm and comfortable boots. Am replacing Caribou style - but will always stay with sorrel.

Good boot with strange fit

I wear sz 11 dress shoe and sz 12 Nike sneaker. Reading reviews, I started with a sz 12 1964 Sorel. The instep on these boots starts up close near the toe, and with no way to lace the instep tighter, it allowed my foot to slide so far forward that there was about a full inch of space behind my heel when I walked. Thinking I could drop down fully to an 11 in that case, I found that my forefoot was now pretty squished into the front of the boot, I could feel the front of the liner when I wiggled my toe, and my heel could STILL rock up and down like a cowboy boot when I walked. Maybe you're supposed to crank the laces onto your shins and let the boot flop around while you walk? Maybe the original foot model had a mutant shinbone and a super high instep? Maybe they break in and start behaving better after they soften and the felt compresses? I didn't want to gamble my money and find out, so I sent it back. I guess I just can't wear Sorels.

Colorado snow boots
Light weight, durable with great ankle support. These waterproof boots will become your go to boots in rain or snow.

Thin soles
I’ve always trusted Sorels as my go to winter boot for snow blowing, ice fishing, snowmobiling. I had a pair that lasted me about 20 years before the rubber final gave out on the seem. I bought this boot at the end of last season so I didn’t get to use them until this winter. The verdict is in, the soles are too thin. The quality of the materials and waterproofness is great except for the soles. You feel every pebble walking and your feet get cold. I had on thick hunting socks and even around the bonfire in 25 degree weather I couldn’t feel my toes. Also they have terrible traction in the snow. If they fix the sole it will be a fine boot, but for now I’d pass.

No wide sizes, no good
I can't say their boots are any good, because they apparently only come in one width, which is presumably D (or medium). Sorel doesn't even specify what the width is. Accordingly, I won't buy them, because I need at least a EE width. If Sorel boots are in fact wider than the standard D width, then they should clearly state what the width is. I've therefore given them one star.

After 50 years I just bought a new pair
50 yrs ago I purchased an earlier version of these boots. I am so pleased to have gotten these. They are extremely lightweight, a wide toe box, super comfortable, well constructed, and of course very warm. I have worn them all day for both running a snowblower and for hikes. The larger eyelets make lacing with gloves easy and the cuff keeps snow out and heat in. I strongly recommend these boots, I shouldn't have waited so long to replace the ones I bought in 1972.

Back in Sorel’s!
After several moves, I misplaced my Sorel Caribou’s. Used another “winter boot” for the past 2 years. Realized I was getting foot pain from poorly made boots. They’re from a reputable company, but they aren’t Sorel's. First time out with my 1964s, the pain was gone, I had better traction, weatherproofing and warmth. I’m never using anything but Sorel’s again for winter boots.

Sorel 1964 PAC Nylon Boot
Great winter boot. The overall quality is always exceeded with Sorel. The boot is comfortable yet warm. Not over powering warm that you cannot wear indoors for a period of time either though. Can wear comfortably indoors.
