Scout Jr MIPS Helmet
Smith updated the versatile Kids' Scout Jr MIPS Helmet with the Multi-directional Impact Protection System to give greater protection while skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking. MIPS allows a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner when heads hit at angled crashes in order to decrease rotational forces. Apart from MIPS, this Scout Jr has the same features and construction as the original Scout Jr. It has all the comfort and safety features needed for rocketing downhill, and is certified for both snow and bike helmet standards.

Soft helmet strap
My daughter outgrew the Prospect Jr and I switched her to the Scout Jr in a medium. In one day of skiing, a piece of Velcro ate through half the very soft chin strap and I see now that the strap on the Prospect Jr is sturdier.

My 6yo LOVES his new helmet! Keeps his ears warm, fits his head w/o wobbling around, and it looks dope w/ his new goggles!

Great style and fit. Adjustment
Great style and fit. Adjustment is a little more complicated then other helmets. Vents don’t open and close. Huge fan of smith though as a life long customer. Have great support!

A great fit for my
A great fit for my seven year old while being adjustable to grow with him. The helmet keeps his head warm on cold days in the Canadian Rockies. The style is great - looks like an adult helmet.

Not enough sizing info
The Scout Jr. has the same online measurements as the Scout (same diameter), but is much more shallow- doesn't come down far enough for my teen. I wish this was mentioned- now I'm stuck with a gaper lid.

Great Helmet
I got this helmet for my 7 year old. He is comfortable, looks good and I like that it comes with MIPS. Thanks Smith! My 9 year old also wears the scout jr, medium.

Love bug’s Dad
The helmet looks great (good style/matte black color) and the quality is what we’ve come to expect from Smith! MIPS is important, as any added protection for my boy is appreciated. Although there is no Boa system, the flex fit system keeps the helmet in place very well. Works well so far!
