Why We Like The XC3 Mountain Bike Shoe
The high-energy and high-speed demands of cross-country racing require purpose-built equipment that carries no extra fluff, and the low-profile, single Boa design of the Shimano XC3 Mountain Bike Shoe is the tool of the trade. Starting with an integrated upper and midsole that sees synthetic leather wrapping around your feet with superior fit and comfort, the XC3 sets a no-frills image of performance-first design. The stand-alone Boa L6 dial cinches down the upper to precision comfort on your trail riding or race-pace interval sessions. With a low stack height, the XC3 reduces energy loss while pedaling, and the fiberglass-reinforced nylon sole transfers watts into the pedals to keep you in the hunt for the win. And rubber tread grips well should you need to put a foot down, sending it deep into a tight apex.

BOA system is inferior to velcro
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it

I think the BOA system is great for snowboard boots, but I think velcro is better for MTB shoes. I can't get the same level of tightness that I like in my shoes from the BOA system as I can with velcro, and velcro is marginally less convenient. I'd just save yourself the extra cost for the BOA system, especially if you like a tight fit.

I've been riding Sidis for 30 years, thought I'd try something different. Shimano got their act together with these, after failures many years ago. Almost the same awesome fit as the italian brand, and lighter weight for the bonus. Nice and stiff for power but far more walkable than hard plastic soles. Nicely ventilated for the summer. Can't beat the low price for such a good shoe.

Perfect for Schwinn IC4
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I use these with my Schwinn IC4 indoor cycling bike and they work perfectly. Love that I can walk around in them without worrying about hitting the clips on the floor.

Comfy but not the best quality

- I've put it through the wringer

The shoes are comfortable and easy to secure, however, I?ve had them only two months and the soles are getting torn up and shredded by the bike pedals.

Very good traction

I use these on my road bike, and ordered them because I wanted more traction during the winter months and these give me that. I had been a holdout switching away from pure road bike shoes, but with slicker roads/asphalt right now, these were a great investment and I may use them quite a bit in all weather. One of the reasons I like road bike shoes is because I have a really narrow foot, and these shoes are a bit wide for me, but with thicker seasonal socks I currently wear, I can mitigate the wider build in these. It might just be that MTB shoes are wider across the board. No complaints with these shoes at all. Fair price, solid investment.
