Why We Like The Shimano GE700 MTB Shoe
From long enduro days to days at the bike park, when we are riding technical terrain we are never without mountain biking-specific shoes. We trust the Shimano GE700 MTB shoe to give us enhanced comfort, performance, and protection on the bike. The Shimano GE700 is a premium clipless mountain bike shoe with a midfoot SPD placement for optimal bike control and a lightweight, low-top construction. A reinforced toe cap protects against rock strikes, and a fiberglass-reinforced EVA midsole absorbs impacts, provides stiffness for power transfer, and combines with Shimano's TORBAL 2.0 torsional midsole for excellent edge flexibility when cornering. A lace and hook-and-loop strap closure system makes for a secure closure, and Shimano's Ultread GE rubber compound provides exceptional grip when connected to the pedals or hiking our bike.

Excellent shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The Shimano GE700 shoes are great. Roomy toe box without seeming to wide or sloppy; comfortable yet very secure lacing/strap system; great balance amount of flex/support in the sole, and the recessed cleat fixture is placed perfectly. Excellent all around shoe!

Miss the Shimano ME7 Shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Got these as my favorite Shimano ME7 shoes were discontinued. Thought these would be a good replacement as the description said it has the same torbal midsole but that is not the case. I had issues on the first ride with the shoe flexing much more than my previous shoe. I have shimano trail pedals. These shoes do need a bigger platform clip pedal to be efficient. Also, I was having issues getting stuck in the cleats when trying to unclip at certain angles in the crankset rotation. The inside of the shoe ends up too close to the crankarm. Also, for hike-a-bikes the shoe does flex nicely but does not have quite as much grip as my previous ME7's. Kinda dissapointing that shoe was discontinued as I really liked how it was a nice balance of efficiency, protection and hike-ability.
