Taste of silicone is very intense/long lasting
I bought this cup a few years ago along with the x-pot. I love that they are collapsible and easy to fit into my pack. However, the silicone taste in the cup is very strong. I have tried using vinegar and multiple pours of boiling water to try to get rid of it but it still lingers. I don't seem to have the same problem with the x-pot when the water is used to rehydrate flavor-heavy meals, however, coffee, tea and even hot chocolate gets a very disturbing silicone taste that doesn't seem to go away. Any advice or experience on getting this flavor out would be greatly appreciated.

Good traveling cup
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cup replaces one I lost. It is identical to the old one except that one was a bit bigger, which was helpful. This one is smaller than I would like, but it works well enough and was the best price.

Perfect Backpack Cup
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a hunting and fly fishing guide. During the cold early and late season fishing and hunting days, I pack a little stove and pot to make tea or coffee. The x-cups pack down small and are the perfect size to fit in my pack. They hold the heat better than the titanium cups and don't burn our hands.

Willing to give it a second chance
I just received a replacement X-cup from Sea to Summit, and am looking forward to seeing how it performs. I loved my original cup, which I used on ultralite backpacking trips, most recently a 3-day hike along the wilderness coast of the Olympic National Park in Washington. There I had the unfortunate experience of the cup developing a crack at one of the folding seams, and leaking hot coffee on my fingers on the second morning. The cup was barely a year old, and had not been used extensively. As I had no other cup, I used athletic tape to cover the crack, and made it through the hike. Sea to Summit graciously sent me this new cup, and even matched the color of the old one! It was an excellent consumer experience, and I have nothing to express but satisfaction in the way that the company handled the problem. Now we will see if the old cup's crack was a one-off problem or not. I look forward to testing the cup out for the first time this weekend on a camping trip. If no cracks develop, then I would give this cup more than 5 stars for its small footprint, light weight, ease of use, and reasonable cost. If a crack develops after a few uses like the old one, then it gets a 0 star rating because there is an inherent design or manufacturing flaw. Outdoor gear has to have a high reliability, especially in ultralite backpacking.

Great until it leaked on the third use
I bought two of the X-cups to go along with my Xpot. I was initially very pleased with their light weight, ability to fold into very little volume, and general heat performance. In my earliest review with REI, where I purchased them, I gave them 5 stars. However, I just got back from a multiday wilderness backpack, and on the second day, the only cup that I was carrying, my Xcup, formed a crack in one of the lower fold seams. The only way I was able to hold liquid in it was to put a piece of adhesive tape over the seam crack. This cup has only been used a few times previously, and is barely a year old, so a fatigue crack along a seam is either a design flaw or a manufacturing flaw. I am now fairly reluctant to take my Xpot on trips as my only cooking kettle, and have gone back to a different brand of collapsible cup..

I wanted collapsible glasses for
I wanted collapsible glasses for my grandchildren. I like that these are silicone and different colors however, they do not “fold” down simply.

Like the X-Mug, versatile
I got the x-mugs first and they are great, but I added a couple of these since they are light, take no room and are very useful. I keep one in my biking pack for more enjoyable sipping at rest stops.

Great for traveling with Watercolor…
I purchased this cup for travel. I enjoy watercolor painting. This cup fits all my needs. It holds the right amount of water, it’s sturdy, and collapses and takes up minimal space. I love it!
