Great toe, terrible heel
- Familiarity:

The toe box is amazing. Sensitive with a dash of edging support. Great for gym climbing and overhanging rock. The heel is very disappointing. It is both baggy and soft and doesn't seem to work with real rock at all (its fine indoors.) Recommend the Furia S or Drago over this shoe if you climb outdoors. Sizing is probably 1 -> 1.5 euro size down from your regular scarpa size. My street shoe is 44 euro (10 -> 10.5). I have the instinct vsw and furia s in 43 and got these in a 42. 41.5 would have been a better size

Surprisingly comfy; great performance

I’m a loyal La Sportiva girl. My favorite shoes are the ladies’ Kataki. They are an excellent all rounder for indoors and outdoors and at my skill level (intermediate) I rarely need anything more aggressive. I value comfort. But when i started pandemic moonboarding, I found the kataki too stiff. I ordered the Scarpa Furia Air on a friend’s recommendation, and I love them on the moonboard. Very precise, sensitive, comfortable. The comfort was a surprise given their aggressive profile and tiny sizing. I initially purchased my La Sportiva size (37) but they were waaaaaaay too small. I sized up to 37.5 and I was worried they were still too small-they are a good half inch shorter than my Katakis and more narrow (see photo). They hurt to sit around in and my toes are pretty much bent in half, but as soon as I get on the wall they feel perfect! Glad i didn’t size up more than half a size.
