Broken within two months worst cust supp
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I’ve owned this rack for two months in the ratchet system already broke. Contacted Customer Support with Saris and they took over a month to get back to me just to tell me that “this isn’t usually covered in their warranty”. I then asked what was covered and they mentioned fixing materials and apparently the broken, broken ratchet isn’t a defect in material according to them. So two months in I’m stuck with a tray That doesn’t work, but since our Customer Support took over a month to respond, I cannot return it to Backcountry within their 90 day return policy. Wasted my money, bought two trays and can only use one. Would not recommend.

Solid
Super solid bike rack. I have driven with my bikes on this rack on the back of my truck through some rough areas and this bike rack has held them sold.

MHS ratchet system broken
I bought this rack system last summer and I have already received a replacement tray due to ratchet mechanism failure, and as of last month, the replacement tray ratchet system has failed again as well. I have never had a rack system that is constantly breaking from normal use. As seen in the picture the copper bushing broke which then caused the ratchet mechanism to fail rendering the rack tray useless for carrying a bicycle.

SO Easy To Use & GREAT Customer Service
After exhaustive research on all eBike racks, it came down to Saris, QuikrStuff, and Inno tire holder type racks. SOOOO many racks to choose from, it gave me a headache. Customer Service answered many questions and took care of my order, very friendly staff. So, the main reason for Saris was design & value of the single tray. PLUS it has something no other manufacturer had: integrated cable lock! Inno customer service was non-existent. QuikrStuff was super pricey with a 6 month wait. The Saris single rack set up weighs in at 56 lbs, ebike weighs 58 lbs, so total weight was lighter 90 lbs lighter than me. Easy to mount to my Ford Maverick. Mount Hitch allows tailgate to open completely when tilted down one-step, Love my Saris MHS DUO 1- Bike Tray, Mount Hitch, and Swing Away.

Super Solid Rack
I have owned this rack for about a month now. Its super solid and easily configured for up to 4 bikes which is why i bought it. My only issue is with the upper wheel wedge when used on road bikes with smaller width tires. The wedge just sort of sits on the back tire when the arm is engaged vs. wrapping around the tire. If the wedge were designed slightly differently or there was an alternate wedge for thinner road tires i would be a little more comfortable with it.

New MHS design is great
Amazing tray system! The connection between tray and hitch mech is simple and very secure. Love that is comes with threaded lock pin. Love the long locking cables. Love that the tray rotates all the way down down to be used as a bike rack while bikes are unloaded. Love the 4 tray setting points on the hitch mech. I did like they way the previous model trays could collapse to make the entire assembly smaller.

Best Tray Carrier I've Own
The MH2 replaced my old Thule Carrier. The Thule was great and honestly the only issue I had was it's age and the fact that with the longer MTB of today you were pushing the length of bike you could carry. The MH2 system doesn't have that issue and this rack is rated to carry Bike(if you're into that thing). The lever to lift or drop the tray is light enough my wife can do it with little effort. Everything about the rack has been thought about including the cable lock tightly hiding away with a small rubber outer layer to keep things from rattling.
