Salsa has been building practical, quality bikes since the old days in Petaluma, California. To this day, the same passion exists for building bikes that take you down the path less pedaled, and the Salsa Mamasita carries on this tradition of combining functionality with the spirit of adventure. As a hardtail, 29er cross-country bike, the Salsa Mamasita is just as at home on the singletrack as in a 24-hour endurance race.
The Mamasita's aluminum construction is a step away from the renowned Salsa steel lineup. The frame has been made from the custom-designed EV6 Xtrolite aluminum tubing to provide noticeable weight savings that make taxing climbs less of a chore. Although weight reduction was a decision-making factor, the hydroformed tubing doesn't sacrifice ride quality to shave grams. The ensure this, the geometry has been made rigid with a 71 degree angle of the tapered head tube to give you nimble steering precision. To add strength to it, and retain the rigidity throughout the frame, the Mamasita utilized the hyrdroforming process to create an oversized down tube in a shape unobtainable with steel. Adding to the lateral stiffness, the elongated chainstays and shaped seatstays provide snappy handling in the switchbacks and sprinkle in vertical compliance.
The Mamasita is equipped with a Rockshox Reba RL fork. A consistent, durable, and easy-to-service fork, the Reba RL has 100mm of travel for predictable encounters with ruts, rocks, and roots. The Dual Air spring system is effortless to adjust and is one of the lightest systems on the market. The responsive fork adds to the get-up-and-go of the bike without making you cringe from downhill chatter.
The build kit comes with a SRAM Pressfit 30 bottom bracket and a SRAM X7 26/39T crankset. SRAM components are used to round out the drivetrain with a PG-1050 10-speed, 12/26T cassette and a PC1030 chain. For shifting, Salsa went with a X7 2x10 front derailleur, a X9 rear derailleur, and X7 trigger shifters to get you from point to point. The Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic disk brakes provide powerful and precise stopping power, and the Salsa Pro Moto seatpost, flip-lock seat clamp, and WTB Silverado saddle keep you comfortably situated during your ride. Salsa Pro Moto 2 Black handlebars have been paired with the luscious Black Juegos de Fuegos grips for a sturdy, hold-on-for-your-life level of control in the dirt.
For control over the trail condition or flats, the Mamasita rolls on Stan's ZTR Arch 32 hole 29in rims that have been laced to Formula hubs with DT Swiss Competition spokes. Ruling from the top of the tubeless kingdom, the ZTR wheelset is lightweight, bombproof, and stiff. For aggressive traction, the wheels come wrapped in Continental's X-King 29x2.2in tires.
The Salsa Mamasita comes in the color Not-A-Fred Red. Sizes run from X-Small through Large.
