Great shoe

- I've used it several times

The shoe seems and feels pretty good. The grip with the shoe is amazing and they are super comfortable. They are very breathable. For the perfect fit you need good socks, otherwise they might hurt in the toe area. They are not waterproof, but also wasnt advertise.

Light hiking shoes
I initially loved the way these shoes performed on hikes until roughly the fifth time I wore them. The plastic side structures in the middle of the shoe that supports the arch area of the foot are delaminating. Not sure how much longer these shoes will stay together.

Overall, the boot failed its purpose. This is my only bad experience with Salewa. These boots were a bit lackluster and started coming apart after 5 days of minimal use. The boots ended up coming apart completely after 3 weeks of usage. No amount of shoe goo is putting them back together. On a positive note, they were comfortable. Customer support took care of me, but I wouldn’t recommend this model of boots to anyone wanting a good pair of boots

I run, and these were purchased to speed-hike, scramble and jog down rougher mountain trails while carrying no more than 12lbs. My feet are regular width US Men's 8.5. Familiar with the Salewa fit (slighly small) from my spring mountaineering boots, I went with the 9. These come with two footbeds, one (in the boots) allowing for a wider forefoot. I found that the narrower ones (in an included box) made for a good fit while leaving toe space. The cuffs and collar give decent ankle support. However, I'm not a fan of the lacing system, which makes for some pressure points on the front-insides of my bony ankles. It took quite a bit of adjusting and experimentation to find a way to lace them up without causing ankle pain from the collars, and I very nearly decided to return these before getting to a point where I thought they were acceptable. After a couple of several-hour trail uses (a desert trip and a local mountain hike/run) totaling about 20-miles, heels don't move, good toe space and excellent flexibility. But I'm not sure what they were thinking with regard to the dirt-cuffs being down inside of the collar padding, as it's possible to get small rocks down between them. And the ankles still aren't entirely comfortable. Good fit and usable, but the collars and lacing could be better.

Light and quick drying, narrow fit though.
This is my 1st time with this style from Salewa. And the last. The toe box is very narrow compared to other styles from Salewa and causes pain after about 3 miles.

Lightweight and dry quickly
Very comfortable for trails or climbing difficult terrain. My only complaint is the small fabric at the heel rubs and can cause blisters with thin socks. They are incredibly light and provide great ankle support. They are very good for the price and have handled numerous camping trips while still looking and feeling like-new.

Dropline
So far these are great. I’ve taken them on 3-4 hikes ranging 2-8 miles. Break in time required for these boots was near zero. I am not a fan of the lacing system, specifically on the top portion and am betting that will be the first point of failure. The tongue and internal gator did cause some discomfort in the beginning but after a mile or so worked itself out. Overall, they are lightweight and breathable, exactly what I was looking for.

Galewa Dropline boot
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 11
- Weight:
- 160
This is the highest hiking boot I have ever used. I have owned 4 pairs of other Galewa mid hiking boots and they have all been comfortable out of the box, but after one hike in these I can say they appear to be as advertised. As light as they are, they also offer a snug enough fit with plenty of support around the foot and ankle stress points.
