Take your pick, the Salewa Dropline Leather Hiking Shoe is either a speed hiking shoe or a casual shoe—or, better yet, both. Lighter than most Salewa shoes, the Dropline can tear up the trail without weighing us down or give us a high-performing everyday shoe to wear off the trail for work and play. The EVA midsoles provide light and comfortable cushioning for all-day comfort while the rubber rand and suede leather uppers protect our feet against rocks and other hazards they might face from the summit to the sidewalk.

I have worn the Salewa Mtn Trainers for many years. I had to size up with this Dropline shoe. It is very comfortable on the trail and peak ascents. However, the elevated sole/heel cannot kick steps in soft-ish snow (unlike Mtn.Trainers) and steep descents in talus and tundra are tough on ankles - the higher heel has forced me to reverse down (backwards) steep slopes. I do like the comfort factor and grip on ascents.

Not comfortable

I normally wear 7.5 and tried both 8 and 8.5. Neither fit well or seemed comfortable. The stretch sock tongue is constrictive and the sole is very thick and rigid with a single flex point at the base of the toes. Walking around the house to try them my feet were constantly fighting against these shoes.

My favorite footwear ever! I wear a size 12 and have relatively narrow feet with a high arch. I have some plantar fasciitis going on, but I get all day comfort with these shoes. The tongue stays straight, they stay tied, they feel incredible. I purchased them for the trail, but I wear them everyday, and I plan to get a second pair. No sure how these would work for wide feet?

This is my third pair of Salewa hiking shoes --after wearing out two previous pairs. This is a new model for me and I was not disappointed. The shoes are very supportive, yet comfortable. One word of warning: They are sized smaller than any shoe I owned. I normally wear size 10 and had to jump to 11 to get the proper fit.

Super light, great fit. Very comfortable and fantastic price. Runs a little small, with a light cushion sock order 1/2 size up. I have a medium wide foot and didn’t need the additional insoles for a narrower tighter fit. Break in is minimal, they are leather. Laces stay put and hold the heel down well. Great for trecking and casual wear. Such a great low shoe I had to buy two pairs. Thanks Backcountry for the deal.

I love Salewa, they work very good for my feet, which are quite low volume. However, this style is the first I have found that I do not fit me in my normal size. They are considerably smaller than my other shoes of the same size. I am returning and going to try the next size up. and hopefully they will fit for me.

Very comfortable and great traction!
These shoes run a slightly small so I had to go up from an 8.5 to a 9. The fit is perfect and shoes are very comfortable. I bought these for casual wear and would wear my hiking boots on the trail. However, I think these would be a great trail shoe.

Comfortable and Fragile
These are one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I have worn. The thin rubber outsole wore out pretty quickly, though. The rest of the shoes look lightly used and yet they are done because of one critical component with a short lifespan. I walk with a fairly neutral foot placement and haven’t done anything high-wear in regards to what they designed to do. I just ordered Pedroc’s to replace as I have otherwise truly loved wearing Salewa’s.
