The Wind Did It
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 10x10x84 in
I bought the Rapid Screen House a couple years back, and it is the absolute best. Collapsed it took up little room, popped up within a minute, often with me being the only person setting it up, and it kept the flying bugs out. It was worth every penny I paid for it. I've used it in the desert, more for shade than anything, but my kids have used it a lot in the mountains around Prescott where the mosquitos can get out of control. Its doom came two days ago when we went to Beatty Days We set up camp about three miles out of town. I thought I'd picked a spot out of the wind, but when we came back from the Saturday festivities, the wind had come up (25 mile an hour gusts) and the tent and the Screen House had pulled up stakes facing the wind and the poles were, not bent, but tweaked enough so that they wouldn't fold into themselves. Though the mesh screen, after having dragged through rocks and creosote bush, was undamaged, we decided to hit the local dump and toss it with our trash, and simply buy a new one. Now, the Rapid Screen House is unavailable. I've looked at the other units similar to this one, but none of them have the easy pop-up function as does the Screen House. I hope it comes back into stock soon. Desert camping season is upon us, and I'm not going to waste my money buying a unit that I can't set up alone. RapidShelter, get on the ball and produce more of this product.
