Don't think I've ever been warm before I had one of these
Excellent hoodie, ultra warm and extremely versatile, packs down small for the warmth it provides

Fabulous jacket BUT
Upon enquiring today I was told that the new Shadow Hoodies have LOST their zipped INNER left breast pocket- allegedly, a decision taken by your design team who obviously are clueless - who has no need of an inner pocket for money passes etc? if you are going to remove the inner one, at least have the common sense to make an outer top left breast horizontal one?. You may want to know that I was about to buy three jackets when the new colours are coming out in March 2022 but your design teams' idiotic decision has just killed of this purchase. I still own one of the gun-grey of the previous Shadow Hoodies still new in its wrapper thank Goodness MASSIVELY DISAPPOINTED

This is the winter mid-layer I’ve been looking for!
With just a base-layer, the Medium fits snug to my 40” chest and 33” waist. It’s not a tighter slim fit, like the Borealis but a looser fit, like the Vapour-Rise Alpine Light. Medium weighs 445g (the weight of my 100 weight Polartec Fleece and Wind-Shirt). If you want to wear a few thicker layers under it, maybe size up. But it works best as a mid-layer Fleece over just a base-layer and then add an Insulated jacket or Hardshell over it. I’d call this a Soft-Shell with Fleece inner. Due to the tough nylon outer fabric, it’s not silent like a simple polyester Fleece. There is some nylon “rustle” but it’s not as loud as a typical Soft-Shell. It’s quiet enough to wear comfortably all day. The Fleece is a mid-weight 215 g/m2 Brushed Fleece. It’s like a classic Polartec rather than a technical Grid Fleece. It’s instant warmth! The nylon outer offers excellent wind resistance. The snug fit over a base-layer traps warmth very well, unlike most Fleece jackets. It’s basically a Fleece and Wind-Shirt in one layer. The pockets are made of mesh for ventilation and are really soft and warm. And they’re stitched along the bottom on the inside. This gives you four pockets. Good for gloves. Excellent hood. Moves with your head. Great on it’s own or with a cap. The DWR that Rab use is incredible (I’d love to know what they use!). It’s the same on my Borealis and VR Alpine Light. It sheds water very well. I just use Nikwax. Put it this way, the jacket arrived, I put it on and haven’t taken it off!

Sooo different from previous model
This version is just not close to the original version. Cannot see why they didn't rename it really. This one is lighter, stretchier, thinner, 'squeakier' with a cheaper feel. The previous one was amazingly windproof and a little thicker and less snaggable. and a better fit. Just so different for the returning customer.

Despite my surprise at how
Despite my surprise at how lightweight this garment is, particularly as it was bought to replace my aged wind stopper from one of your rivals, it has not disappointed at all. I have regularly used it walking the dogs in temperatures down to -3 with only a light t shirt underneath and been plenty warm enough.

Like all Rab clothing this
Like all Rab clothing this is well made, the sleeves are a good length and very comfortable to wear. The only feature I would like to be added to this jacket would be a draw cord on the hood.

This light weight jacket is
This light weight jacket is super soft, protects from the wind and covers well in the back and extended arms. hood is so handy but also compact and out of the way when not used. This jacket is now a part of my hiking and outdoor activity layering lineup. I did size up to XL from my usual L (US) tho based on the sizing guide, and I'm glad I did. The L may have been more form fitting, and I wanted to allow for movement and layering.
