Has its time and place.
Has its time and place. This sleeve is really bulky and quite heavy for what it is. I will mainly use this for winter hiking in below freezing temperatures. Would like to see them slim the design down and cut weight while maintaining the insulation then I will use it for majority of my backpacking trips. Could use a better design like high quality magnets instead of zipper for accessing your bite valve. Few tweaks and this would be the best on the market hands down if it isn’t already.

Perfect for keeping your mouthpiece out of the dirt
This is great for keeping your mouthpiece clean. This also keeps your water in the tube cool in warm weather and keeps it from freezing in cold weather.

Insulation Is Too Narrow and Not Long Enough
I purchased this to use with my Platypus Duthie AM 15 and the reservoir that came with it while snowshoeing and back country skiing so the tube would not freeze. The reservoir water tube barely fits in the insulator and it is very difficult to push the water tube through it. In addition the insulator is not long enough to cover enough of the water tube and there is a 1/2 inch gap between the opening of the pack and the insulation. I have been pleased with the other Platypus products I have purchased and I am disappointed that this one was not designed or manufactured better.

Great design
The product overall is 5 stars. Installing it takes a bit of work. It does a great job of insulating the drink hose, preventing it from freezing and the zipper cover is great for both freezing and dusty conditions alike. no more gritty water on desert hikes.

Tube insulator worthwhile
The drink tube insulator works great. The bite valve cover is a bit of a disappointment since it won't stay closed, generally popping open after just a few minutes of hiking. This results in freezing at the bite valve despite blowing air back into the tube, plus prevents the secondary usage of keeping the bite valve clean. Worthwhile purchase for the tube insulator, but I'll be looking for a better bite valve cover.

Don't buy
Freezes at the junction between the tube and the bite valve.

I've seen some reviews that state that the hose does not
I've seen some reviews that state that the hose does not insulate, apparently they dont know that you have to pour warm water for it not to freeze, I used it on 5,250 meters above sea level at - 18 ºC and it worked just fine, only the water in the bite valve froze but as soon as it was in contact with the warm water ther was no problem at all I used it for 7 hours and it never froze, it only got cold
