Taking top honors as one of Pearl Izumi's most compressive bib shorts, the Interval Bib Shorts use more muscle-hugging Lycra than any pair in their line, giving you a fatigue-fighting performance the second you put them on. A big part of what makes these bib shorts so special is the sophisticated seven-panel design, which employs the stretch and support of the Elite transfer In-R-Cool fabric, to smoothly move along with you in the saddle while also wicking moisture and breathing exceptionally well. This fabric, as its name hints at, has cooling performance to regulate your temp when working up a sweat battling the climb. Then, the Elite Escape 1:1 chamois' floating top-sheet design cuts down on friction and chatter from the road for soft, chafe-free comfort where you need it.

Fit well for me
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- M
- Height:
- 6' 5"
- Weight:
- 178
I guess you'll need to try these on for yourself. I'm 6'5" and 178 lbs, and the medium feels great. I'm mostly legs; maybe it would be different if my height came from my torso. Other than, that, there's not a lot to say. They do their job in that they get out of the way--they felt fine on my initial ride (just over four hours).

Too short for tally
- Size Bought:
- L
- Height:
- 6' 3"
- Weight:
- 170
Standing 6'3" @ 170# with socks on I was excited to get these in the mail today and tried them on almost immediately, had to get in the house first before getting reported by a neighbor plus it was a wee bit chilly out. I slid them comfortably to the hips and over the legs with a great feel all the way through. I did not see the tag however where it mentioned that you need to become a hunchback in order to get the straps over the shoukders. Cradling and bending, I got the straps on but they turned into spaghetti straps from a high school dress which was unpleasant in the mirrored reflection. Whence unraveled, I moved about to determine these were a definite "no" wothin less than a minute. Even with a base layer waist down, that didn't take away the space above being able to fit comfortably with any wiggle room. Sizing up is a must for anyone over 6'1".

I've worn the ELITE Escape bib shorts for years now, and these Interval bibs are what replaced those in the Pearl Izumi catalog for 2019. I wanted a pair of Navy bibs, so I immediately looked at these since I know the ELITE chamois is great and is comfortable for me for mid-length rides. Unfortunately, Pearl decided to increase the inseam length for all of its redesigned bibs in this model year. The PRO Bibs got an extra 1" of length- and officially on the record these Interval bibs are 0.5" longer (tho to me they feel longer, compared to the last model year ELITE Escape bibs). The other change made to these new Interval bibs is the leg opening is much wider than it was in the ELITE Escape bibs-- and for the life of me I can't figure out why this is? So not only are these bibs long on me, but they now no longer fit snugly against my leg. They are loose and "flappy", which is just a terrible, terrible look for bib shorts. (I'm attaching a pic to show how much wider the Interval bib leg opening is compared to the old ELITE Escape bibs.) I'm not a particularly tall person, and I don't have a very long femur- so these new bibs land right on my knee now, instead of above it. In riding position, the material bunches up in my "knee pit" and makes for an uncomfortable ride. As I mentioned, I have *many* pair of the ELITE Escape bibs- they are my go-to bib for every-day riding- but I also have a pair or two of the PRO bibs for my longest rides. I love, love, love Pearl Izumi bibs. My gear closet contains nothing BUT Pearl Izumi. I'm a huge fan-boy, so it pains me that they've sized me out of their new bibs. I went from being able to wear, and absolutely loving their 2018 bibs...... to not being able to wear the 2019 bibs at all. That is SUPER disappointing to me. I even tried sizing down a size to see if that would help, but, no, it didn't. I know bibs can't fit *everyone*... but if "The Black Bib" can offer a long and a short inseam length in its bibs, why can't Pearl Izumi? If these fit you, you'll probably like them- and they'll be a nice bib. But they're not gonna fit everyone the old ELITE Escape bibs used to fit-- so buyer beware.
