Good Shoulder Season Pant
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 36 waist
- Height:
- 6' 1"
- Weight:

I had been looking for a shoulder season pant for awhile. The Patagonia Quandry is my go to late Spring through early Fall pant, but just too thin for the November - March window in New England. The Patagonia Simul did the trick on this day. This was my only time out with them, but we encountered snow/ice on portions of the ascent and descent, and it was bone dry on the summits and the ridge. These pants did a nice job with the wet and cold conditions, and I didn't notice any overheating on summit and ridge where it was sunny and dry. My only gripe is the inseam from the 35 (too and restricting movement) to the 36 (almost too long) seemed too large of a difference for one waist size increase (but that could ultimately be the issue I have with my quad size and the fit of most pants) . There is an internal waist adjustment belt that helped. but would like to see belt loops as well in case the internal system fails. All in all a solid pant.
