Designed to keep you warm and dry at the crag or on the hiking trail, it's made from a polyester double-weave softshell material that breathes like a set of lungs and has a DWR coating to repel drizzle, and is tough enough to stand up to abrasion on the wall and the approach (which isn't to say it should be your jacket of choice for off-width climbs). The built-in stretch helps you move smoothly, the low-bulk cuffs slide up to your elbows for easy hand jamming, and the no-bunch drawcord fits comfortably under a harness without letting drafts sneak up your back.
