Why We Like The Osprey Sojourn Porter 46L Pack
Built for the rigors of international traveling, the Osprey Sojourn Porter 46L backpack features high-tenacity and ballistic materials to stand up to abuse on our flights, safaris, penny cab rides, and jeep tours. This carry-on-sized backpack features a large, clamshell opening for easy access to our belongings, which pack in safely, thanks to the bag's padded sidewalls, compression straps, and mesh interior pockets. The middle-sized backpack in the Sojourn Porter line also features the Airscape back panel from Osprey's hiking packs along with a tuckaway waist belt, sternum strap, and shoulder straps to carry our belongings comfortably when we're on foot.

Front pocket feels like an afterthought
Really like the main compartment but the front pocket needs some improvement. The dividers lack any kind of elastic or closure so everything falls out when you open or close the main compartment. There’s a dead space at the bottom that’s pretty much useless and would have been better with a zipper or something. The pack also really needs an exterior pocket other than the toiletries pocket.

The design, engineering, and craftsmanship
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The design, engineering, and craftsmanship are superb! I have an older Osprey 46 L that I love. I needed a side handle. So, I bought this pack which is far and away the finest pack I have ever owned. The myriad zippered pockets are all well placed and sometimes surprised me. I love how rugged this pack is. When I use it as a carry-on for buses and trains there is nothing loose to get caught. I then pull out the shoulder straps and waistband and walk away hands-free. I'm really happy that you asked me for a review. I was blown away by how perfect this pack is and did want to acknowledge that. So, thanks for giving me the perfect pack!

12 years in, it’s in perfect shape
I got this bag in 2013. I’ve used it for all of my vacations and backpacking around Europe since then. When I tell you this bag is great quality, I mean my back will give out before this bag does.

I am a prolific traveller. If you can only take one 'hand luggage' bag with you, this is the best bag you can buy (in the world). I've used them all, Patagonia, TNF, Osprey etc. One bag only - this does it all. Loads of packing space, loads of external pockets for wash bag, sunnies etc AND a designated laptop/tablet sleeve for a 16". The quality of the components is great and it packs down well. You can carry it on your back, or pack the straps away for a duffle experience. Congratulations Osprey, it's a corker.

Maybe the best backpack I’ve ever owned
I bought this bag years ago to carry camera gear inside of camera cubes. It worked great for that purpose but then in 2023/24 I spent 6 months traveling around Southeast Asia and Europe with just this bag. It’s held up incredibly well, fits everything I need, looks inconspicuous (I didn’t want to be carrying around an expensive/flashy looking bag), and is as comfortable as I need it to be since I am not hiking or walking tons of miles with it. Paired with a small sling that I use as a day bag I could travel for any amount of time and fit everything I need. There’s never going to be a *perfect* bag but this is as close as it can get for me.

The right amount of organizational
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The right amount of organizational pockets. Enjoy the external water bottle pocket. Pack material is very good quality. Comfort of the Fairpoint carry straps is far superior. These seem cheap in comparison.

I used the Porter 30
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Porter 30 for many years but wanted something just a bit larger to hold more travel gear. The 46L version offers just what I wanted in a travel bag, all the same features, pockets and comfort as the smaller version. Works great!
