We’ve been impressed with Osprey’s hiking, backpacking, and ski touring packs for years, so it wasn’t too much of a surprise when we saw how well-designed their Heritage line was. The Scarab is the 30-liter option in the lineup and is ideal for everything from a day at the office to a quick weekend trip to the city. Behind the classic old-school design, the Scarab features a roomy compartment secured with Osprey’s Straightjacket compression straps, as well as padded shoulder straps and an adjustable hip belt for a comfortable carry.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received bag. This bag is ok. I wish it was more versatile. The size is nice but no pockets for water bottle. Unable to hide Straps and no capabilities to use a shoulder strap. It would have been nice To have a different opening for laptop instead of opening bag. I would have love to see a mesh pocket at the inside opening for the bag.

It is a great pack
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is a great pack but it needs more shoulder padding along the lines of my Stratos 24. Comfortable hip belt Do you sell inserts for the shoulder straps by chance?

Like all Osprey products the
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like all Osprey products the quality is top-notch. There is an issue with the zipper for the main compartment. The angle at the top is a bit too tight making zipping and unzipping more difficult than it should be.

Use for for shopping
Carries well, like passed hip belt, tuck away. Can carry :ocean: water bottle in back compartments or hang from straight jacket straps

Great looking pack, but functionally flawed.
I was initially drawn to this pack for it's cool retro looks, and use of the Straight Jacket compression (Which I really appreciate with my Porter 46 Travel pack). The Straight jacket feature protects contents, compresses for carry-on, and keeps the look clean. This it certainly accomplishes, but does so while sacrificing ease of access, and is very cumbersome to open and close. The outside organizer pocket is handy, but it is integrated in the zip open lid, so when the pack is open, it is difficult to access that pocket as well. It would be great if there was a bit more organization, and maybe a way to stash a water bottle somewhere. I would say the backpack is fine for A to B missions, but not for activities which would require more frequent access to the contents. Stash away waist belt is a nice touch as well, and the back panel is more breathable than it appears at first.
