Why We Like The Deep Shell 3L Bib Pant

Whether we're seeking powder stashes at our favorite resort or traveling the skin track in search of the best lines, we rely on the lightweight and loose-cut construction of the Deep Shell 3L Bib Pant. The high-tech 3-layer membrane repels moisture and blocks wind, all in a surprisingly breathable design. In classic Ortovox fashion, these bibs feature temperature-regulating, moisture-managing, odor-resisting merino wool inserts in key areas that are most sensitive to the cold.

Fit on these is bizarre

Size Bought:
M & L
Weight:
180

I'm a pretty average U.S. male medium: 32" waist, 40" chest, 6'. I wear a medium in Outdoor Research, Patagonia, etc. I first bought these bibs in a medium and the chest was super tight--very Euro fit up top. I returned them for a large and they fit ok up top but the legs were comically large to the point where they'd be a safety issue for ski touring. Not sure who the fit of these was designed for: super svelte upper body with some lumberjack thighs and coffee cans for calves? Bummer, because the materials and design are otherwise high quality.

Baggier than my 2001 Pants

Great material and features. Immediately returning. The legs are freaking massive and super baggy. I ordered a large and am 165lbs and 6’2”. Great fit other than how baggy the pant legs are which is a bummer. No wonder they are 60% off. No one is using these is serious backcountry situations unless they have legs like tree trunks. I’m sorry for the negativity, just bummed.

Great fit Great look Great buy

Size Bought:
Large

So to be clear the fit observations below aren't exactly true for everyone. Also the sizing chart posted here is way off and is responsible for probably not capturing the number of sales they should have on these supple but bomber britches. I am 5'11" and 175 lbs. this morning in my skivvies with a 34–35-inch waist. My Levi 505 pant size is 33 waist 34 length. My Kuhl Renegade Rock Pants are 34/34 for reference. I purchase both Large and XL. The XL I slid on and immediately too much room everywhere with the front of the bib coming up very high. Large is pretty much my normal size in ski pants and sometimes a medium tall in a bib will also work for me like from Stio but brands very for sure. The size large slipped on perfectly. enough room left over if I wanted to wear an insulator on the inside but I am old school and wear my insulation on the outside of the bib. Initial impression: when I pulled the waist tabs in about an inch on each side and these give me the fit I am looking for. Length is perfect for me in the Large. Got the Pine Green ones. I went with the Ortovox Sedrun Jacket also in Large Black and its perfect. This stuff is a rippin buy right now pretty sure you'll be happy. If you are on the fence pretty sure if you roll the dice you'll roll 7's.

Snug Fit

Size Bought:
Medium
Height:
5' 11"
Weight:
155

I just received this and it looks like it will be a great bib for all around use. The fit is definitely snug. I am 5"11 155lbs with a 31 inch waist and 39 inch chest and the medium just fits me. Another inch on my waist or chest and I would need a large. Looking forward to using this up in Canada in a few weeks!

Expensive but good

I?m a 33 inch waist, 33 inch inseam, and 6?5?. I bought the large first - too small. Extra large fits ok. Not sure how people with much bigger waist or stomach/gut would be able to fit in even an extra large - Would be tight across chest. Very good wind and water protection. Packs down small. ?Back door? zippers very helpful for pit stops. Pockets are well positioned and roomy (though I wish the chest pocket faced inward versus outward). I got the green color.
