The Ascent 32 holds all your essentials for a full day of touring, with a dedicated safety compartment as well as a large main compartment to stash plenty of food, water, and layers.
The ski and snowboard carry makes it easy to haul your planks up a bootpack, and the stowable helmet net keeps your lid secure and your head cool while you're hiking in the sun. Awesome pack, durability and qual issues
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This pack is fantastic for ski touring a few times. Carries everything you want, nothing you don't. It's surprisingly comfortable for a several-mile hike in with everything on your back. The issue is that even only after a couple months of use (roughly 2x/week) it's coming apart. There's at least one seam that's busted and multiple rips on the sides from a-framing skis. Also my wife had to return two of them because of zipper defects (the main zipper arrived with snaggles).

Awesome backpack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Height:
- 5' 11"
- Weight:
- 160
Toured with it once on 11/14/2020 at Stevens Pass. It fitted all the avy gears, 2L hydration pack, energy drink, boot crampon, and still had plenty of other space. The waist strap is supportive and the shoulder strap is nicely padded. The only downside is the goggle compartment is not made out of meshed material so it might scratch your goggle.
