We count on the Morrison Gilltek Jacket to keep us comfortably warm, whether we're enjoying a blower powder day on the slopes or out for a night on the town. The synthetic insulation is breathable and quick to dry—a better match than down insulation for snow, sweat, and damp weather. The jacket also provides plenty of ventilation and breathability with ventilating "gills" between the baffles and stretch-mesh side panels that let heat and moisture vapor escape to prevent us from overheating when we're skiing, snowboarding, or backpacking.

More Style than Substance

The first thing I’d like to mention is that this should be called a light jacket or a jacket liner. Wearing it on its own is useless. I purchased it as a jacket for when I go out cycling. Granted I am warm cycling in 30 degree weather but I also wear 4 layers, which include a smartwool sweater and ultra warm Uniqlo turtle neck. The Gilltek is cute but I’m not sure how long it will last. The gills are sewn onto a mesh fabric which seems pretty flimsy. The whole jacket material seems a little flimsy. I worry about putting my keys in the pocket because I’m concerned it might rip. Also, the sides of the jacket don’t have any insulation, where if I’m not cycling, I can be cold when it’s windy. The sides and sleeves are reminiscent of the cuff on a jacket and not something I would expect on the body of a winter jacket. All in all this jacket is more design/style than substance, which is right up my alley. :-)
