I've been running in Hoka One One's for years (Clifton's, Challengers and currently Bondi 7). I've always liked their very comfortable cushion ride but rarely liked their "look". I tried On shoes a few years ago and although I loved their look, they just didn't have the cushioning that Hoka's had. I love the look of the CloudStratus and since it's On's "most cushioned" shoe, I decided to give them a try. Initial impressions were good. Walking around, they felt very comfortable. However, as soon as I started to run, I felt the stiffness immediately in the front/mid foot area. I even switched to more cushioned insoles (Soft Sole) and I could still feel the stiffness. Maybe they will break in after some mileage, but I didn't want to wait to find out...especially at the high price point. I'm older (almost 55), run 20-25 miles a week as part of my cross training and consider myself a "heavy" runner; thereby have always loved cushioned shoes. These just didn't work for me.
