The New Balance Men's 501 Shoes aren't actually named for the number of years they've been around, but they do rock a retro '70s style that any sneaker-lover would be stoked to have in his specially-ventilated, temperature-controlled, hermetically-sealed shoe closet. Luckily, the 501s aren't that sensitive to air, light, and moisture—the suede and mesh upper can handle itself on the sidewalk just fine, and the rubber sole grips the ground like an angry starfish clings to a rock.
