The traditional longboard shape evenly distributes volume for response and maneuverability at slower cadences, and it allows for steady directional gliding when touring quickly and smoothly across open water. It also negotiates rocky shores and narrow passages with agility. The ten-inch single fin and slimmer waist track straight and help the rider maintain a proper stance and technique.

When it's time to pump waves, the square tail captures more of the waves' energy and the progressive rocker keeps the tail in the wave and the nose out of the water, allowing beginners to easily get the feel for SUP surfing and intermediate surfers to enjoy longer rides. The Nalu Air 10ft 2in model, designed for paddlers under 185lb, is slightly narrower to prevent smaller SUPers from straining to reach into their paddle strokes. This board is also four inches thick, reducing total volume and lowering the rails in the water for better board feel. The 11ft model is catered to riders under 210lb. By adding two inches of thickness and extra volume, the board is much more buoyant, keeping larger riders' feet out of the water.
