Exceptional Pack with Some Quirks
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:

I've been using this bag for the past month as a hiking bag, a daily bicycle commute bag, and as a carry-on during work trips in replacement of a duffel. I'm 6' 1" and weigh around 165 lbs. This pack is unbelievably comfortable. The backside is well-structured and adjusts easily to fit my frame. The waist and shoulder straps are well padded and make the weight of most loads disappear. I am impressed by the construction: the material is a dense, durable ripstop, the zipper taping is so thick the zippers require some force to move, and the internal meshes are tight and secure. I was unsure about the unique tri-zip design, and I have been loving the easy and variable access that it affords. In contrast to roll top or forward-opening bags, the top section is "lid-like" and maintains its shape more readily, which contrasts with other single-pocket packs that end up top-heavy and unwieldy. I think one of the best things about this pack is the versatility afforded by its intermediate size. 32L is big enough to handle large loads and justify the very supportive waist-strap, but smaller loads feel justified due to the pack size. In fact, it may motivate over-preparation because of how easy it is to wear! I will take this with me on a hike of any scale below an overnight because I know I can carry whatever I will need. There are plenty of toggles and straps to hook items like poles or quick-access containers too. The internal pocket handles my 3L water reservoir easily, although the size may justify a longer hose. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied. It's comfortable across so many activities that I struggle to find a situation where I can't use it except for when it clearly isn't suitable.

Based on lots of positive reviews I expected more from this backpack. 3-zip design is convenient if you don't need to take out things regularly. This feature isn't something I would want in every backpack but it kinda works with this type of backpack. But you need to load it almost full, it doesn't work great with semi-empty backpack. The other topic - the backpack is rather minimalistic and lacks good pockets for organization of small thing. I didn't like the pockets on the lid - small, bad access and you should put backpack on the ground in one position or contained items will fall out. I wish there where additional pockets on side folds of 3-zip opening. Also I really miss straps on the bottom of the backpack - they will be very useful for strapping bulky items like sleeping bag or sleeping pad, gear loops are just too small. Carrying comfort and adjustability is adequate. Not mind-blowing but not something to complain about. Backpack doesn't have raincover which is flaw for the price and I think this backpack is on expensive side of spectrum.

With the updated removable hip belt, this is as close to the perfect day hike pack as it gets when needing to carry emergency/additional kit. May end up with another one at some point.
