This jacket offers next-level insulation that combines a durable stretch fabric and lofty 700-fill down for what just might be in our opinion the perfect crag coat.

Color & Size Issues

I purchased this jacket in Light Army which looked like a light khaki color online but was definitely more of a moss green color -- still pretty but not what I needed. More importantly, I found this jacket to run on the larger side -- I'm a solid Medium in Patagonia & NF jackets and even with a hoodie underneath, I found the jacket too large and very boxy.

I tested this out at Smith Rock over NYE weekend when the high temp was 24F in the sun. I wore it over a Merino wool base layer and a very light fleece and at one point I got so warm mid-climb I had to take it off. I got the dark umber and the color is beautiful. The material feels really durable when scraping over rock. I had full range of motion in my arms and I wore my harness over it comfortably, though the pockets were still inaccessible for me (may be due to my shorter torso). Overall, super happy with it! Hoping it holds up over time.

Wife loved it
Therefore I loved it. Looked very nice, it was true to her normal size. Initial impression is that it is of quality construction.

This jacket is super durable and can hold up to the harshest conditions. The material's stretch allows my arms to move freely and doesn't restrict my wide shoulders, which has always been an issue for me in the past. I'm also usually the unlucky one who snags a hole in their new puffy the first day outside, so I'm usually a little cautious with my jackets outdoors. However, due to the Stretchdown's impressive durability, I've been bouldering in it all winter in Chattanooga - a place that's known for rounded top outs. I've snagged it on tree branches, scrapped it along many rocks, and still haven't torn a hole in it yet! Super impressed by its resiliency! I wear an xsmall and still have space to wear a base layer and mid-layer underneath.

I didn't love the Dark Bolt with my skin tone. The material feels sturdier than other puffy jackets that I've tried, and I really liked the woven pattern + that that hit a little longer down my tush. I ended up going with a different jacket from Backcountry, but I could see myself choosing this one in the Dark Storm or Dark Umber.

Very comfy
Bought this a couple of weeks ago and I was a little disappointed at the color (Dark Bolt) - the picture was a lot brighter and yellow in color than the actual product. It looks more like split pea soup, but it’s grown on me. Overall it’s very comfortable, feels like you’re barely wearing anything more than a sweater. I like how the arm length is longer. I’m 5’3, 140 and ordered the Medium and it fits just a tad loose, but works for me since I like layering.

Excellent !!!
Super light and hot ! The fit is nice. Very nice to do winter activities. I can run with this coat only when it’s minus 25 or more otherwise it’s too hot ! I love the colour and the light !

AWESOME...with a few notes
I bought this because I needed a new down jacket that packed a lot of layering warmth. The stretch is awesome, and it does a decent job holding up to the Seattle rain and wind. The neck comes up over my nose on me, so that is a little weird. I have to fold the collar over sometimes if I want to be able to talk with it zipped all the way up. The hood doesn’t tighten down at all, but that’s not a huge problem if you’re wearing a layer over it. The only other thing I wish they would have added was an interior pocket. Doesn’t seem like too much to ask to always have an interior pocket! I’m keeping it despite these things though because the other parts of the fit are great and it’s super cozy!

Stretchy and Super Nice!
I am usually a size small, but I prefer to size up to medium in jackets just in case I were to wear a sweatshirt under it. It isn’t a tapered fit, but because of that, it’s super comfortable. The stretch is so nice to have in a puffer coat which is why I chose Mountain Hardwear for this! The quality is always great!

Happy buyer
This jacket is perfect. After reading reviews, I went with an x-small. It fits like a dream.
