Great mid layer

This a comfortable, warm-for a light weight, mid layer. I wore this while active in Iceland on a rainy 40’s degree week, and it was perfect with my stretch ozoníc shell. Would not have been warm enough for me to stand around in cold weather, but I’m easily cold and this is made for activity. Will definitely use this for spring snow skiing in CO. I’m 5’10”, long armed and 175 pounds, and the arm length was perfect.

Great base layer, albeit slightly big

This is a great base layer for hiking and the material is made of a very soft yet stretchy material that feels great against the skin. Have warn it both around the house to catch my wife’s eye and as a base layer while hiking in the winter. Served both purposes well. I found it to run slightly big. I normally wear a large which is what I bought and I’m 5’9 and 185 with an above average muscle size. The arms were a bit long. Would absolutely buy again, however, given how elastic this material is, I think a medium would be a better fit. Definitely recommend regardless. Will be getting more soon!

A Great Base Layer

Purchased for my son. He uses it as a base layer for skiing and loves it the most of all his base layers.

Perfect Fabric for a Skiing Baselayer

This layer uses the same fabric as the Mountain Strech Hoody but is the half zip version. I LOVE this fabric. Mountain Hardwear has a winner here. I use it all the time while ski touring and I can't think of a better base layer. This is that and a little thicker of fabric than your regular sun shirt so it has a slight insulating property which can be handy during those colder winter ski tours. The fabric is soft and performance-ready and wicks moisture effectively. The fabric is nice and stretchy and more importantly regains its original fit once stretched. I wear this layer under a pair of bibs and I have noticed that the stitching is really well done where I don't feel the seem and do get chafe marks as I have with other similar layers. I am usually a medium and this fit true to size, perhaps slightly trim. I would recommend this to any skier out there as well as a general-purpose 4-season base layer. I could see myself equally satisfied on a summer hike in this layer. The story of this layer is its versatility.

Super versatile baselayer for a variety of conditions...just runs a bit small

I’m a trail runner and backcountry skier based in Issaquah, WA; I tried out the Mountain Stretch ½ Zip in Men’s M, as well as the Mountain Stretch Hoody in Men’s M. Honestly, I liked the ½ zip more than the hoody for a few reasons: The ½ zip allows for more ventilation when you unzip the chest area The neck on the hoody felt a bit tight for me, whereas the neck on the ½ zip did not feel as constraining. I used the Mountain Stretch ½ zip both on mountain runs and on rainy runs in the city. I was very impressed at the performance of the stretch fabric when wet. It doesn’t rub, chafe, or become uncomfortable, even when it is soaked. The thumb loop design is the same as the Mountain Stretch Hoody, which is AMAZING. This was one of my favorite features of both the Hoody and the ½ zip. The collar on the the ½ Zip was much more comfortable than the neck design of the Hoody. It stands up and provides some nice coverage of the neck area, that gives some extra warmth and sun protection. I am 6’1’’ and 175 pounds and picked a size M. I felt like the overall fit was appropriate, except it felt a bit ‘short’. I wish the torso length was a bit longer so that it could come further down onto my hips, rather than feeling cut off at the waistline. Overall, this is a super versatile base layer that can be used for almost any mountain activity. In colder conditions, such as backcountry touring in the winter, this is a great next-to-skin layer that can be coupled with mid layers for additional warmth. In the summer, this is a great piece for days where the temperatures will stay below 65 or so...any warmer than that and I would go for a T-shirt.

Perfect Fit

I’m a 6’3” ectomorph (skinny guy) and the XL fits me perfectly. I bought three in different colors.
