Layering for cool spring runs just got a whole lot easier thanks to the Mountain Hardwear Kor Preshell Hooded Jacket. This ultralight jacket has the stretch, breathability, and weather-resistance that you need to stay comfortable when you hit the road or trail in hard-to-guess weather. It's made with Pertex Quantum Air, a lightweight ripstop that sheds light rain and blocks moderate winds without sacrificing air-permeability. The result is a jacket that offers weather-resistant protection and won't pack heat when you start to work hard. The full-zip design allows for further ventilation and airflow if the weather warms up during your run, and if you find it's gotten balmy enough to shed your jacket completely, you can stuff it into its own hand pocket, stash it in a pack or pocket, and keep on cruising.

Light and comfy
I love mountain hardwear because their jackets always have long arms...and this jacket is lightweight - a thin shell, but repels water and is stretchy and comfortable. It's true to size and the green color is great too.

Must have for ultralight windbreaker
Bought this for my wife for running and I also have the male version. Excellent windbreaker. Light and packable. Once it gets hot we take if off and pack away. Pack size is about the size of an avocado. Also love the pockets that not a lot of other brands have in the same category of jackets.

Not Flattering
Like everything about this jacket but the style. Perfect hybrid jacket but it looks like I ordered from the menswear. Would be perfect if it tapered in the back.

surprisingly durable
As a rock climbing instructor in western North Carolina, I am often working (and recreating!) in exposed, windy environments. And often have a rugged approach to get the climb! This jacket proved to perform in both settings. This ultra-lightweight jacket blocked the wind as expected, but what wasn't expected was that when hiking through the occasional briars, I felt the snags but didn't find any proof of rips in the Ripstop nylon fabric. Seems to be holding up well so far! I also like that the bluesign approved fabric is stretchy and isn't "loud" or crunchy sounding. As far as the fit goes, it's slightly large for my preference. I'm 5'2" and pretty petite and the place I notice the large fit most is in the sleeves. I have short arms and the sleeves are just a bit too long, even when pulled over my hands. Ultimately, this jacket is the layer every outdoor athlete will appreciate when extra warmth/wind protection is needed but bulk isn't wanted.

Amazingly lightweight
I'm a climber in Colorado and I need my gear to be able to withstand the abuse of climbing trips. What a great little layer this is! I ordered the medium (I'm 5'2" with an athletic build and wide shoulders) and it fits great over a base layer. It is mind-blowingly lightweight, it feels like nothing in your hand but cuts the wind effectively. It packs down to about the size of a grapefruit into its own pocket. It moves and breathes well and I hardly noticed it while climbing. The hood has a little bit of elastic around the rim, which helped it stay up even over a helmet. This layer is a great addition to just about any outdoorsy person's wardrobe, it fits a niche that other layers don't. I used this for climbing and I'm looking forward to trying it for camping, hiking, and cool weather runs.

Perfect for volatile weather
As a guide based out of the Utahan desert, I am happy to have this jacket packed at the ready for whatever wind or rain storm blows through. It was even a cool temp way to cover my skin on super sunny belays. I am usually in between a medium and large in MHW and I ordered this is a large so it could go over layers. I'm happy with that choice! Stoked it's so light and packable and -of course- that the fabric is bluesign approved.

I didn't even know I needed this...but I did.
This hoody is so light weight and versatile! I just graduated from an outdoor education program in South Carolina, and I will be using this hoody for my many climbing adventures and for my work as an Adventure Specialist. It stays pretty warm in the South, but sometimes you just need a light layer to protect you from a cool breeze--this fits the bill perfectly! For climbing specifically, it's packability is ideal for carrying up windy multi-pitches, and because it is a full zip, it is easy to take on and off as needed. I am 5'5 and 120lbs, and the small is a bit too large for me even if I layer it over a fleece--would probably size down if you want a sleeker fit!

Excellent super light weather resistant jacket
I am a full-time professional mountain guide in Colorado. I spend time in many different environments and often in strong sun and windy conditions when having a very light and weather resistant hoody is important. This jacket is perfect for hiking, climbing, spring skiing etc. It has an athletic fit yet not tight. It is the perfect top to throw on over any base layer when extra protection is needed. I found it also adds some warmth without being bulky. It stuffs in a small pocket and can easily be brought along during climbing or hiking endeavors. I am 5'3" with athletic build and broad shoulders. I found a size small fits me perfectly. I give this a 5/5.

Great women’s shell hoody
This shell is a nice color, breathable, and protected under layers against moisture in light snow. I love it!

My new winter running friend
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:

- Height:
- 5' 5"
- Weight:
- 125
I?ve been looking for a lightweight, water repellant, hooded jacket *with good pockets* for years for winter running. This jacket is it. The pockets are generous. It?s form fitting over my under-layers, and this fit all my other requirements with the added bonus of being almost totally silent. No zipper pulls clinking, no fabric rustling, and in the quiet of the snow falling down this morning, it made my run magical.
