Love the active version - please keep it!
Please bring back more options for the Active Hoody! It is my favorite sun hoody and way better than the non-active version which I won’t buy. Thruhikers/backpackers do not want the pockets that get in the way and rub with a backpacking pack. Want to buy more of them - but need new colors and sizes. Please keep this version around! It served me perfectly on the PCT.

10/10
The best sun hoodie on the market! Living in Arizona, I've tried a lot. These are buttery soft and keep me cool even in 100° weather. They also dry very quickly! I've been soaking wet and dried off within an hour. The large sized hood is also great to keep my face shaded, as well as the thumb holes to keep my hands from burning. Also surprisingly durable, very long lasting.

110% The Best Sun Hoody That Exists
I have used a variety of sun hoodies from a variety of brands, and this hoody is the best one you can get. The fabric is incredible - the softest and most breathable fabric that has ever touched my skin. This is my go-to hoody for backpacking, rock climbing, fishing, and anything that is going to put me in the sun all day. The hood is well designed and fits comfortably when up and the thumbholes are also an excellent feature to help keep the sun off your skin when needed. It wicks sweat well and dries very quickly when wet. I prefer the "active" version (which used to be the only version) over the other style of crater lake hoody MH has because I think the strings that tie in the front look weird and the zipped pocket on the hip would be an issue for wearing a backpacking pack. I got a green one a few years ago and a white one last year, but I'd like to get more.... I really really hope MH comes out with more solid color options in this specific crater lake style, I do not the love colors that have been coming out lately in the crater lake series with all of the weird patterns. Patterns get old fast, so more solid color options would be nice.

Heavier than original Crater Lake hoody
I purchased the active hoody because I thought it would be lighter than the regular Crater Lake hoody, plus it's nice that it doesn't have the annoying size zipper pocket and drawstring that the original (non-active) version has. I really wanted to like this one! I am surprised that the feel of the fabric is different and not as thin/breathable as the original hoody. For you gram counters, this hoody almost 1.5 ounces heavier than the original (non-active) Crater Lake hoody (with the drawstring removed) in the same size (XS). Unfortunately it won't be coming along on ultralight backpacking trips, as there are lighter sun hoodies out there.

Best sun shirt
I have tried sun shirts from Stio (hot and yucky) Patagonia-also not very breathable and baggy. And Black Diamond know I sound like a freak but have been on a quest to find the right one. This is it! It fits great-I got an XS but am usually a small but I wanted it to fit more closely. Light and breathable-I like the way the collar covers my neck a bit. I have worn the white color mtn biking and hiking and it washes well and doesn't hold the dirt like other light color hoodies I have tried.

Poor wear
In theory, this is a great sun hoody. It is lightweight and soft, I really liked it when I initially received it. Unfortunately, after just a few wears doing light to moderate activity, the seams have broken apart in two places (arm pit and below the thumb hold). I'd love to purchase more but with the fact I got maybe a handful of wears out of the shirt before holes started popping up makes me hesitant to grab another colour.

Love these crater lake hoodies-they are SO comfortable!!!!
I picked up one of these shirts to try. I LOVED IT! I fit well and is very light weight and breathable-I was looking for spf clothing to wear while kayaking, hiking and biking. I loved my first I got, so I bought 2 more!

Works
Wear kayaking. In summer, just wear unit; colder. Layers. Sized up. Dries fast; washes well. Light weight. Only ding: no pockets.

Best sun hoodie in the market
I bought the white one and within 2 uses I quickly came back and got another color. It is that good. I have tried other brands: REI, Outdoor Research, and Patagonia and this are my go-to. The hood is the best hood in a sun hoodie out there. I feel cool and light when I wear it. It fits nice and fitted. It runs a bit big so if you like close to skin, size down. Love this so much!!!!

Improved!
Love the material. So light and soft. I also appreciate the updated design. Without the draw string. New go-to sunshirt!
