Why We Like The CWM Sleeping Bag

Get some shut-eye in the death zone with a little help from the Marmot CWM Sleeping Bag. This 800-fill goose down insulated bag is built for the coldest, harshest weather on the planet, from the South Col to the South Pole. Its waterproof, breathable Pertex Shield 2L laminate prevents rogue bits of water, tent condensation, and melted snow from clumping the down and ruining our sleep (and chances of summiting tomorrow). The outer fabric itself is made from rugged 30D nylon ripstop and the lining from 30D nylon ripstop Pertex Microlight, which has a soft feel and the durability to prevent feather leaks.

Good bag, poor zipper

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, it’s a good sleeping bag. My fiancée and I just got back from roughly 28 nights in the Himalayas in these bags. Slept most nights in tea houses and 5 nights in a tent. The highest we slept in a tent in them was at 19,000 feet. She had no complaints regarding warmth, I felt like for a -40 degree bag the toe box was a little cold. Overall they seem durable. The zippers suck though and get caught so so easy. The provided stuff sack is NOT big enough to use and we took other stuck sacks with us. Looking forward to washing them after a month in them and seeing how they hold up in the long run.

3.5 stars to be exact but it's very warm and comfy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a cold sleeper living just a bit north of Pacific Northwest and this is my first sleeping bag. The winter here can be down to 15F and humid. So my top priority were warm and waterproof / resistant then as backpackable as possible. Also the one I bought was the old model, which does not come with a stuff sack with strap. Pros Very warm Very comfy Con It's very bulky and the stuff sack is so small that it is IMPOSSIBLE TO STUFF IT ALL IN. LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE. I had to buy a 30 liter Compression sack to hold it and even after fully Compressed, I can only pack it down to roughly 26-27 liter. So the figures published on the product page was not attainable. I don't know if the new model with the new stuff sack will be able to improve on its packability. I still like it and will test it when the winter comes, but bought a 2nd bag that's warm and comfy but pack down to 16~ liter. My point is beware of this if your top priority is backpackable. Take the published figures with some reservation and this is a warm bag. The zipper snag right out of the box, and it's far from being smooth. Again, I don't know if the new model improved on this.

Super sleeping bag!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just make sure you know what you’re buying-this is an extreme below zero cold weather sleeping bag. Very happy with bag for above 10k below zero temps.

This should be your first and last bag

Great bag!!! I wish I could go back in time and buy this bag years ago. In the past I have always bought bags that were cheaper and not able to handle the cold, as a result I have had some very uncomfortable nights and several bags. FINALLY I bought a bag that can works! Do yourself a favor buy the best bag you can first and save loads of money and you will get many good nights of sleep for years to come.

Worked as a charm

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sleeping bag is amazing - camped out at the MN/Canadian border over the frozen lake for a week and it kept me warm and comfy.

Deep winter expeditions.

Beautiful piece of deep winter gear to be used in Norway and high Alps. Excellent materials, well-sewn, brilliantly designed.

Warm but what an annoying zipper!

Great bag! Kept me warm in temps that dropped way below zero at high camp on Mt. Vinson. But man, the zipper is prone to snagging. Some nights I just gave up and put on an extra jacket instead of fighting with it any longer, which was especially tough crammed into a tent with two other large guys. Much worse design than comparable Mountain Hardwear or Big Agnes bags.

Excellent bag

Excellent bag. Warm and comfortable, easy in and out. Expedition-sized, so keep that in mind when packing. Very well worth any bulk.
