Built for the most severe alpine conditions, the Marmot Alpinist GORE-TEX Jacket leverages waterproof, breathable technology to secure its spot as our favorite go-to for days breaking trail or chasing skin tracks. The GORE-TEX Pro construction is not only here to keep us dry anytime the storm clouds gather, but also help reduce our impact on the planet with a fully recycled design. And when the temps drop, we pull up the attached hood and adjust the drawcord hem for extra coverage while on the move.

Nice jacket shell. Questionable Zipper
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a strong jacket that will protect against the wind, rain and snow. The sleeves seem a little long, the guide chart suggested the sleeves would be 34 inches long, it feels like they are closer to 35 to 36 inches long. The zipper seems a little flimsy. We’ll have to see how long this holds up. The zipper is difficult to initiate starting to zip.

Top Notch Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Probably the best high-end rain jacket available. High end Gore-Tex, great features such as pockets and vents, great length and cut, etc.

Good deal on sale, but missing Recco.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Solid GTX pro shell but conspicuously lacking Recco, which is strange at this price point. Still a decent value play for the clearance price I paid. I dig the huge dual opening pockets. I think an older model (Solaris?) had these too. Love the Nori color with orange zippers. I have the Alt HB in Nori too. Definitely an athletic fit that does not leave me with too much layering room at 6' 3" 225lb with a 45-46" chest, but it does not pull across the chest or back. I can fit a low-bulk down piece underneath if needed. Recommended if you can get on deep sale (60%+ off).

Excellent. Fit a bit large.
Another hit from Marmot. Really high quality with all of the features you need in a performance alpine jacket. Zippers and material all feel very high quality. Love the dual-direction zippers. Built to last. 5'8" 145 pounds. Men's small. Jacket is good for layering but would prefer a more athletic fit like other small men's from Marmot.

Try it when there is a promotion, then decide.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Marmot always offers cost-effective products and additional discounts. The double-sided zippers on the front placket, pockets, and armpits of this garment are impressive. This may be the most cost-effective Gore Tex Pro product you can buy in the market. There are two points that can be improved, the access zipper is relatively thin, and I may be concerned about its durability. Secondly, he may not be as friendly to people with wide shoulders (I am 172cm tall, paired with short sleeves and the Arc'teryx Atom AR, wearing this size S doesn't make my shoulders 100% flexible).

Quality and reliability.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quality shell comparable to my Arc’teryx Alpine Gore Tex Pro shells but at a reasonable price. Lighter weight than other similar products on the market, this jacket takes on tough Canadian weather whenever I pull it out.

Excellent Gear for High Altitude Mountain
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fantastic shell; I used for my recent 'alpinism challenge' where I was escalating Misti and Chachani Vulcans in Peru, ~ 19 900 ft over see level

When needed, it's there!
Solid rain jacket for my purposes. I'm not a climber, just an old backpacker who can afford the best.

Hi there, Just wondering what size you would reccomend to somebody who is 6'2", 160lbs. I find myself debating between the medium and large. I plan to use this jacket year round for all activities. Thanks!

There are three versions of Gore-Tex Pro (Most Rugged, Most Breathable, and Advanced Stretch). I asked which version the Alpinist Jacket uses?

What denier thickness is the Fabric? 151g/m^2 isn't the standard way of stating it.

I am 6'0" tall with 44.88 chest, athletic build, and plan to wear a fleece under this jacket. Should I get a L or XL? I'm afraid that L is quite narrow and XL too large

Can this jacket be used for snowboarding or is strictly a rain jacket? BTW, color selection for snow jackets are horrible this year. Stick to traditional colors.
