Exceeded my expectations

I purchased these boots in the spring of 2022. A friend of mine that works for the National Forest Service had recommended this brand. I was seeking a boot that could serve well as an “all-rounder”. The majority of my hikes include long day hikes, 14’ers and an occasional backcountry hike. I wanted a boot that not too heavy for shorter day hikes yet provided firmness and support for a backcountry trip. After one summer of use, these boots have exceeded my expectations. They are light, responsive and waterproof. I wear a size 13 in most shoes/boots. This boot fits my foot very well but I could see where others might find it to be a bit narrow. My only compliant pertains to the removable insole. It is cheap and essentially a piece of cardboard. My feet would fatigued quickly on moderate to longer hikes (5+ miles). I replaced these insoles and had immediate relief. I have already started recommending this boot to my friends and family.

Solid boot
- Size Bought:
- 10.5

I bought these in 10.5 & 11, not knowing what size would work. For comparison, I have a set of Lowa Camino GTX and take a 10.5W in those. The 10.5M in the Explorer is my size. I would say they are a fairly sleek and lightweight boot that feels very nimble. Plenty of room in the toebox and across the forefoot...some boots/shoes won't work as I find my forefoot to be a little on the wide side. The heel cup in these is a little large for me and I have just a bit too much slop. I also tried the Scarpa Kailesh, which provide a better fit, especially in the heel cup, and overall the Kailesh feels more supportive/less hard underfoot.
