Why We Like The Leki Sherpa Trekking Poles

Made especially for mountaineering, the Leki Sherpa trekking poles keep us upright and stable on sketchy hiking surfaces. The aluminum shafts put up with plenty of abuse on the trail while the Aergon Air grips have an ergonomic shape that pairs with the locking security straps to maximize comfort and keep our hands and wrists in strong and healthy positions. The poles also adjust easily with Speed Locks that lock in our preferred pole lengths and an exchangeable basket system that lets us swap the included trekking baskets with the Big Mountain Binding Baskets (sold separately) for ski touring and mountaineering. These trekking poles will take pressure off our joints and help us navigate alpine terrain with confidence.

Sturdy, Comfortable, love the grips.

I bought these for Mt. Rainer. I went a little larger and sturdier because I have had several knee surgeries. Added stability and push on the uphill, Great Support on the Downhill. The top of the pole is contoured to fit well in my palm for the downhill, and there were several points in training where I had a lot of my weight on both or one pole on steep terrain. (I'm 5'10 175, and carrying 35-40lbs). They could break down a little smaller, they could be a little lighter. If you don't need the smallest and lightest poles, I will take a few extra grams to have more confidence they aren't going to break or malfunction on the trek.
