Amazing shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

Yes to all the rave about this shoe. I owned the roadie first and order the off road version, same size, with the late surprise that it fitted me a size bigger. It's not noticeable while you are on the bike but once you start walking on them more the fun stops.

Followed the guidance on the LAKE website. Traced my foot, measured, and used the sizing tables provided. The shoe fits well and its the first shoe I have used that is not excessively long (as I tended to up-size to gain width). My previous shoe was the Giro HV mountain shoe in half size too large... and it was not wide enough and created nerve impingement in my right foot. The LAKE shoe is sufficiently wide to prevent that issue. I was not excited about the BOA cable bindings as I didn't really understand them and they looked rather fragile. I found them to be very tough and they have performed well. They distribute tension more like a tradition lace. The ability to micro-tighten in tiny clicks is a real benefit of the BOA and you can actually do it while your riding. The action to reach down and add a click or two is sort of like reaching for a water bottle. It was hard to spend this much on a shoe, but so far it was worth it. I have over 500 miles on them at this point. Great choice for the wide foot. For you wide foot people, I also recently picked up some Exustar sandals which have a good fit as-well. "Hey.. Backcountry / CompCycle should should add the Exustar to your inventory. I think you could do some cross-selling to the Sasquatch crowd.
