Why We Like The Skwama Vegan Climbing Shoe

The Skwama Vegan Climbing Shoe follows in the footsteps of the OG Skwama, while implementing the technology of cruelty-free material. We love how responsively grippy this shoe is during gym and outdoor sessions, on boulders or while tied in.

The best non-leather climbing shoes

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
41.5
Height:
5' 10"
Weight:

I was eager to check out a non-leather climbing shoe without sacrificing performance. These shoes fit the bill. Comfortable heel hooks, amazing grip, non-smelly, and solid toe hooks. Upgrade from my Tenaya Oasi shoes (solid shoes, just like these Skwamas much more) I usually wear a men’s 10 for everyday shoes. I sized down to a 42 (9 US), but returned those for a half size smaller (41.5) pair which perfectly worked out. Basically a 1.5 size down worked well for this shoe. Overall summary: Next level non-leather climbing shoes that do everything well.

Solid Vegan Climbing Shoe

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I've had the leather Skwama's for years, and love them, but I wanted to move towards a vegan shoe to reduce my impact on animal products. This shoe was slightly tighter to get into and had a slower break in, but it did break in and feels pretty awesome on my feet. I'm impressed with the climbing abilities of this shoe and don't see any limitations.

This is an amazing climbing shoe. I have never been able to wear La Sportiva due to the fact that I have wide feet, but after searching endless reviews online about the original Skwama, I found out that it fits wide feet very well. The color scheme on these shoes speaks for itself; pretty much the reason I bought them haha. I love overhanging climbing and these excel there, but are great on slabs and vertical walls as well. The split sole really allows you to engage your foot and smear; but they are at home on overhung terrain. It uses the Vibram XS Grip 2, which I LOVE. Super sticky and soft rubber. I just sized them like my street shoes, no crazy downsizing as these don't stretch and personally for me there was virtually no break-in time which is amazing. If you're looking for a super soft and accurate shoe with great feedback, this is hard to beat. And, you cannot beat the color scheme. Great shoe for people with wide feet.
