Sometimes the trail is flatter and softer than asphalt; most of the time, that's not the case at all. The Men's Akyra Trail Running Shoe handles more aggressive trails than most of La Sportiva's trail runners. Its Frixion sole's larger lugs grip off-trail conditions and even some snowy terrain better than the competition, and its Trail Rocker profile includes a springy 9mm drop to help you tackle steeper sections vigorously. The origami-like upper sports breathable, cushy air mesh enveloped in a MicroLite exoskeleton that enhances the shoe's supportive fit. It also has Flex-Guard inserts to increase flexibility to the point you might feel like you were in road runners.

Best Shoes I have Ever Owned
The Akyra is simply the best shoe I have ever owned. I logged several hundreds of miles of hiking with my first pair and am now on my second pair. The shoes excel in fit, comfort and foot stability for long hikes over rocky and uneven terrain. For me, the rubber soles have the perfect balance of traction and durability. I frequently use them on class 3 & 4 (and occasional low 5th class) scrambles and am always amazed at how well they grip rock slab faces. The soles are padded enough to minimize how much you fell sharp edges through the bottom of the soles, which is key when you have long talus fields of boulder hopping in front of you (this is a key weakness of the TX2/TX3 and Boulder X shoes in my opinion). Although my Boulder X shoes perform better on easy 5th class climbing, they are much less breathable and far less comfortable on long approach hikes. I never use my Boulder X's anymore, instead opting to wear my Akyra's for all hikes and scrambles right up to the point where I switch directly into my rock climbing shoes for more technical climbing. The lighter weight TX2/TX3 shoes might be a better option for shorter approaches on relatively smooth trials, but the Akyra is superior for everything else. I love them!

This mens La Sportiva Akyra trail running shoe is by far the most comfortable hiking shoe that I have worn so far. For years I had Salomon, there is no comparison what so ever. The cushioning in this Sportiva Akyra is unbelievable vs. the rock hard Salomon that I had been wearing. So glad I made the switch !!!

Four pairs!!
I bought these shoes for the first time a couple of years ago. I am now about to buy my fourth pair! They are fantastically built, durable, and have great ankle support. I have an old fracture in my right ankle. I could feel my ankle get sore when I would run in Cascadias or Assics, but not with these. I average approximately 500 miles of technical trail running per pair, and wear them as everyday shoes too. So, realistically, these shoes are getting well over 1,000 miles each. Anyway, as long as they make these shoes, I will continue to buy nothing else!

I use these for everything: hiking, trail running, biking and everything else. I bought my first pair in 2017. I’ve since bought another pair and will definitely buy a 3rd pair when the time comes. I have a narrow foot and these fit my feet perfectly. They are excellent running shoes and are very durable. The shoestrings wear out before the shoes. I wear 9.5 and 42.5 fit perfect. I couldn’t ask for a better shoe.

Highly Recommend this Trail Shoe.
I have tried multiple trail runners and hiking shoes over the years. This is the best combination I have found. It has excellent structure, support, fit and cushioning for a lightweight trail running shoe. I am both a trail runner and a backpacker and this shoe can handle both. I feel like this shoe is way underrated compared to other brands that are more popular in the U.S.

Beware if you have sensitive Achilles!
I bought these as a replacement for my trusty Mutants as the measurements were identical. I broke them in for ~50 miles and started my thru-hike of the Colorado Trail with them. Around day 5, the ankle cushioning started pressing into my right Achillies tendon causing discomfort and slowing my pace, ended up replacing them in Buena Vista. Despite my experience, these are great shoes as long as your Achillies isn't sensitive. They had ample cushion and were great on surfaces from rock to mud.

Best Shoes I've Ever Owned
These are hands down the best shoes I have ever owned. I hiked/backpacked/camped/walked on all different terrains throughout Arizona, Utah, Georgia, Florida, Brazil, Chile, Argentina (Patagonia) with them. I also wear them as everyday shoes/running sometimes. They held up strong for about 2 years. After intense wearing - some of the tread wore down (which is expected). I am on the website right now buying another pair of the exact same shoe. Highly recommend these. They fit pretty true to size, dry quickly when they get wet, strong support, excellent tread/grip for changing terrains. I do also own a pair of hiking boots that I will use when hiking/camping with terrain that has more boulders - to allow for stronger ankle support. But overall, these shoes are a 10 out of 10. Looking forward to breaking in the new pair in Yosemite next week!

My favorite trail shoe
I've become a confirmed La Sportiva fan because of their fit with my narrow heel/low volume feet which are not a good match with most shoes sold in the US. If you have wide or large volume feet, these are probably not the shoe for you. Started with Ultra Raptors, switched to Akyras because of the aggressive outsole tread which provides excellent traction. I also love the toe and underfoot protection. No complaints with excessive tread wear or durability in general.

A Backpackers Dream
Only needed two pairs of these to finish the entire PCT last summer. But honestly could have done it in just one. Durable, light and comfortable. Extremely satisfied.
