Don't let the Klymit KSB 20 Down Sleeping Bag's trash bag silhouette fool you into thinking that it's anything but a treasure. The KSB weighs in at 2lb 12oz and touts a budget-friendly price tag despite its technical features and lightweight constitution. A 20-degree temperature rating makes the bag ideal for three-season adventures when temperatures are cool. Stretch baffles provide unencumbered mobility, so you're able move around in your sleep or snooze on your side without your sleeping bag restricting your movement. A cozy lining offers a silk-inspired feel and prevents the buildup of moisture, while the 650-fill duck down provides lofted warmth in the face of cool temperatures. A draft collar bolsters your defense against cold air, and the half-moon footbox retains warmth better than conventional footboxes.

Three Years and Still Truckin'
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I bought this bag in 2018 for a great deal with an email coupon from Backcountry and it has since completely changed my life. Previously, I was using a bulky Wal-Mart bag that I'd keep in my trunk for couch-crashes and the occasional summer campground trip with the family. I had never backpacked long-distance and only ever slept in hotels during road trips... now I'm frequently sleeping under the stars, section-hiking the Appalachian and staying toasty all the while. Now, having stepped foot into the backpacker's world since then, I know this isn't the most tech bag out there, but it's still a great entry point for anyone who is looking to try it out and for its price-point, it checks the most important boxes. It's lightweight, packs super small and is accurately rated. The one thing I initially hated but have grown to love is the stretch baffling. In cold weather, ensuring that your skin makes contact with the material is crucial to warming the bag. Some people will say you need air-space between your body and the bag for maintaining heat, but that's what the down is for. I recently had the opportunity to upgrade my bag to something with significant more specs, but in the end I couldn't justify it simply because this one hasn't let me down once yet. Take good care of your gear and it will take care of you.
