Not a durable tent

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Used the tent 3-4x. Cannot withstand wind. Pole splintered in half and broke a hole in fly. Other tents around were fine.

If you aren't a polar bear, this tent is for you. After reading and watching some reviews, it seemed like a good tent. To get right to the point: Pros: Simple 2 pole set up+1 for ridge. 1 person set up, no help needed. Color coordinated buckles- no hassle matching up Fast set up, even in full wind Plenty of room for storage, people Tall Door, large and wide, allow for easy entry and moving in gear All the head room you could need, easy to stand, change clothes, switch gear and so on Heavy duty for a lighter tent, durable. Top notch Was used in heavy winds. This tent survived where others didn't. No snapped poles, no rips or tears, will hold up against the weather Cons: No where to secure the bottom of the tent to keep dew off Front Mesh window does not allow for vision or air flow through the tent. Its no more than 8 Inch tall peephole, cant see out the front of the tent. It might as well be an oven inside. Excellent tent for cooler-cold weather. Failed me for ventilation With the top on, there is no air flow, even during heavy 30mph winds. No way to be in this tent in warm weather, inside the tent heats up and no way to cool it down with rain fly on while trying to keep UV out. I drove 1.5 hour round trip home to get my 30 year old tent for a few key reasons. The old tent I planned to retire- all the mesh windows and doors can zip open allowing all the air flow one can handle without the sun coming in, if bugs arrive, while restricting, windows and doors can then have mesh up to keep them out. Top roof panels could be closed to keep sun out while windows and doors zipped open. This tent has 1 way in, 1 way out and either full sun and wind or no sun or breeze (temp regulation) in the tent. This is the only reason I am returning it. I can't have a tent that is all or nothing with comfort. Over all, for me, I would still say it's a great tent. Far better than a cheap off brand from WM stores. No real chemical smell, didn't bother me to sleep in because of this. Looks good, blends in the crowd.

Not my favorite

I like Kelty Products, I have the Comic down sleeping bag and have purchased other products in the past, but the Tall Boy 4 was a hard setup and take down. The sleeves were hard to push the poles through and get out with two people. The zipper would snag a lot and it was missing a guy-line adjuster on the rain fly. Not very good in high wind, I would not suggest camping in high wind weather... Overall its a durable tent but I'm looking for a easy setup and take down.
